"Data Error ( cyclic redundancy check)"
I'm trying to re-install Medieval II Gold but I get as far as the "music" part of the installation and the error "data error (cyclic redundancy error)" appears on a message on my screen. The game is brand new and the CD drive works fine with Rome Total War as I was playing this earlier. Any help that can be provided will be much appreciated.
Cheers, TheScabMuncher.

Re: "Data Error ( cyclic redundancy check)"
Clean the disc reall good so the drive can read it. Check for scratches, divots, food, dirt, and other foreign material.

The disk is brand new, just out of the packet. I've cleaned it again but I can't see anything on it, so I don't think that's it

It could be a bad disc. Where did you buy it from? There are many out there that are old but with new shrink wrap being sold as new.

Re: "Data Error ( cyclic redundancy check)"
I bought it off Play.com. The seller had a good feedback rating and my old disk did the same, that's why I bought the new one. The only think I can think of is my disk drive, but it plays other games fine?

This is not the first time play.com has come up in this forum over the same issue. There was one a couple of months ago, too.
Have you tried copying the discs to your desktop and installing from there?

Re: "Data Error ( cyclic redundancy check)"
Then, the only conclusion I can come up with is a bad disc.
