Dont know what mod to use

I have never used mods in Rome Total War or in Barbarian invasion.


Can anyone point to me the best mods for Rome Total War and Barbarian Invasion? Mostly Barbarian Invasion because I prefer that time period (don't hate me too much!)


I am looking for mods like stainless steel for medieval II, which is a mod that tripled my play time for that game

I am playing as sassinids, but the heavy cav just sit there shooting and I cannot get them to melee. Is there any way to tell them not to shoot at anyone and to charge? (seeing as they are best at melee so it says)

what do you mean by Total war base game?

If refering to Rome/BI: AFAIK Invasio Barbarorum is available for both RTW and MIITW.
If only Rome: not sure if there are any barbarian invasion mods for RTW without the BI expansion but there are a few mods for just RTW such as there are: Bare Bones wars, Darthmod and Europa Barbarorum are all playable on RTW sans BI (and Rome Total Realism Platinum might be, check out the forums for that), though all are set in the original game's era (280bc-14AD)

Check out the IBFD mods for Barbarian Invasion time period. I recommend SAI, its my favourite. For RTW i can recomend mods like RS2, EB, or RTR. CATW is also worth checking out specially if you like Illyrians. Res Gestae is very like vannila in management but much better looking units to wich you can add better environments, but i ear its bugged.
