    Default Time limit?

    Hello everyone!

I've just bought the game, haven't even started a campaign yet. What I've noticed is that there are victory conditions to be met.(Rome + 50 provinces)
As soon as I've achieved that, does the game stop, or do I have a choice to keep going? If it ends there, are there any mods that I can install to make the game continue?
Speaking of mods, I've read a lot about the Total Realism mod, it sounds like one I should(and will) be using.
If anyone has any other knowledge or suggestions they could share with me, before I get started, or warnings even, it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Welcome to TWC. You must have the recent RTW version (1.5) so when you conquer 50 provinces, there'll be an option to either continue the campaign or end it. RTR is a great mod and I've certainly had my fun with it many times in the past. Since you have the 1.5 version, get RTR: Platinum Edition. Any other RTR versions, like Gold and 6.3, are for the 1.2 patch and will not work with your game. Check out the RTR sub-forum here for all the info you need.

RTR is an awesome mod, and it was amazing to play it with the Romans, but just some warnings. It is a bit harder than the vanilla version of the game (duh). Also, there are a lot of extra settlements in the mod, so it takes longer to conquer land than it does in vanilla. But, if u like a challenge and realistic battles, then RTR is the perfect mod for you.

lol posting this made me want to play RTW

Appreciate the responses, tx for the info!!
I started with ver 1.0, because I installed the 1.3 patch, and now it says ver 1.3. So the RTR plat mod needs to be installed over ver1.5, so can I just install a 1.5 patch, then put the plat mod in? Or do I need to use another ver of RTR?

No, I've just bought the original 2 days ago.
I've just now added the RTR mod. I uninstalled, reinstalled, patched to 1.2, then put RTR 6 Gold mod on. Seems to be working great, just experimenting a bit before actually starting a campaign.
My problem now is deciding on other mods to maybe put in as well. Is that possible? If it is, how can I tell which would be compatible with my ver of RTR, and which ones could screw it up?

That's where you have to be careful and make plenty of backups. Since you’re new to the game, I recommend looking at RTR mini-mods only. It should say in their threads which RTR version the mod is intended for. With other mod add-ons, you'll have to check exactly what the mod changes in the game files because it may not be compatible with the major mod you have installed.
