Now, I understand that the 2nd rebellion is triggered by the FL's "Dictator For Life" trait; does that mean that if I kill him off just after the 2nd Rebellion is triggered, does that prevent the "Recurring Rebellion Bug?"

No - I'm afraid not - and that's not the trigger either. I'm hoping to focus the Team wholly on this issue so that the 'fix' can be comprehensively tested. Thereafter it will simply be a case of what 'else' might make it into v2.5 Patch (actually making it 2.5 complete rather than 'Beta'), almost making it a v2.6 lite/Beta. If that happens then we would be able to both garner opinion on realistic future changes/enhancements/tweaks for v2.7 as well as a re-look at Traits in particular.
It all depends on available time/resources.

are there any user workaround/fixes that seem to work? I'm sure you're working hard on this, but isn't it going on a year now?
No disrespect intended.

No, that's quite all right and it is not only reasonable for you to ask, but it is also deserving of a more comprehensive reply than you might expect - as the overall 'problem' has become more apparent. I'll write it from my point of view, which is no indication of criticism of the Team, but simply because it is mine - and it's a certain point of view based upon my background and experience.
Firstly, however, yes there is a workaround that 'works' - and that is to disable the 2nd Rebellion completely and continue enjoying the game - please see the thread here:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...sav-compatible
- which simple little edit does work. It will only work before the rebellion starts, it will not 'fix' it.
So, why has been over a year - and it's partially my fault. The 'Team' (and it's now a much reduced team than I believe it was) have created a wonderful, brilliant, comprehensive and superb modification to RTW+ - but in doing so it has become a bit of a monster. Many team members had good ideas and produced code to match, but there are no design documents; so, now that the team is reduced, it is much harder to then tweak and change when you didn't write the code and don't always know why it has been written the way it has. With the vast majority of the code, that's not a big problem, for the 'text parsing' nature of many of the files is not that difficult really. With the '2nd Rebellion' it is - for it's much more complicated.
Just over a year ago, however, I began to test and, because I have an 18 year history of Project Management, that started with software and I learned 'Basic' (which is very similar to what we have in the text files) no less than 4 times before that, then I have a generally 'comprehensive' view of design and test. So, when I started I asked a lot of questions as I found things (hence the Sig). What I also found was that no one had ever been able to 'test' really, because there was no guide/documentation to test against. Problems were only ever found by 'accident'.
Because some problems were found, however, the Team started to fix them; including a change that has become very useful - un-hiding all the 'hidden' traits for testing purposes. Unfortunately, many of those changes were not .sav-compatible (you mess with EDCT & EDA at your peril!). So, between March & September last year I started 4 separate test campaigns with the Romans as can be seen with that thread of mine - that's probably 600 turns at up to 2hrs per turn. And then I burnt out some. My point, however, is actually that, whilst a whole mass of genuine problems and Roman-specific (because I'm a bit passionate about the Romans too) 'tweaks' have been resolved - we never actually got to the 2nd Rebellion!
We have now - in a stable configuration and with the possibility of reducing the rebellion for testing and, now we can see all the traits that control it, have a chance to actually 'fix' it!
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and yes, it could have been done faster if we had got all serious and controlling with more formal management and release - but that's not always 'fun'. We're going to have to do some of it, however, and we're setting that up. Eventually it will also result in more useful 'pictures/charts' of what's supposed to happen for the players to peruse. Not a 'Guide', because there is no 'right way' to play - exploring the Mod should always be a part of playing.
I hope that answers why - and that a little patience will be rewarded. Meanwhile the Roman faction can be played to the end without actually having the 2nd Rebellion.![]()

Any estimate on when 2.6 will be released?
Thanks very much for that clear reply. I would like to help, if I can. Probably only through playtesting as my time is very limited as well. I'm sure that when you sort things out it will be as good as it has been so far.
Best regards. C.

Give us a week or so and we may have a proper answer.
When the Rebellion is fixed and patched (and there is indeed a possibility that the 'patch' might be a full v2.6 indeed with quite a lot of brilliant change) - and people are once more able to explore the Mod with confidence - then we'll be looking for Testers thereafter when 'new' stuff is done. And you will be most welcome.
