Sounds good, heavy on infantry for my liking - which may or may not mean anythingmy own preference is to have a general (of course); 4 cavalry regiments (1 heavy, 2 lancer, 1 light or chasseur); 4 or 5 artillery batteries (2 12lb'r (or greater), 2 6 or 8lb'r (for canister shot use), and optional 1 howitzer or horse battery; 2 or 3 light infantry regiments, preferably at least 1 grenadier (or similar elite infantry) then the rest line infantry. That sort of lineup hasn't failed me yet. ps. never use militia for anything other garrisoning cities or protecting ports - as they will run to quickly in battle to be of any real use.
Thanks for the response. Do away with the National Guard for heavy cav or artillery?
It is really more up to your playing style, as to what is a 'better composition' of your army. I like to fight a more "defensive" - offensive campaign (if there is such a thing). For example I like to move my armies into positions where the AI has to attack me, like moving to and sitting in his major ports, or besieging his cities. Even when I do attack an enemy army, I often use my long range artillery (my 12lb'ers) to fire at their positions "encouraging" them to attack me. However, Bran Mac Born's BAI and CAI mod for DMN has really improved the BAI and has forced me to alter my tactics somewhat.
What does " However, Bran Mac Born's BAI and CAI mod for DMN has really improved the BAI and has forced me to alter my tactics somewhat", mean? Not familiar with the whole Mod updates. I know what AI is but what is BAI and CAI? DMN?
Thanks.
The regular NTW game is often referred to in these forums as the "vanilla" version of the game. There are add-on extensions to the game which we refer to as mods, there are some minor modifications which alter some information, or aspect of the game, such as one that reduces upkeep of units mod, then there are larger mods that change a lot of aspects of the game - generally improving them - these mods are referred to as "hosted mods" because you generally start or play the game through their own starting app. My own personal favorite is DarthMod Napoleon (there are many others) which vastly improves the "vanilla" version of the game. At the top of this forum look for the "hosted Mods" tab, this is where you can find out more information on DarthMod and the others as well.
