    Default CTD on battle start.

    Hello all.

    I have recently reinstalled SS 6.4 and have started a Genoese campaign. However I am frequently getting CTDs on the battle loading screen when I choose to fight a battle manually, sometimes the sword load bar doesnt move and I get CTD, sometimes the sword fills up then crashes. This seems to happen about 50% of the time, making my campaign almost unplayable.

    I am running 6.4 with : Savage AI
    G5 Emergency battle fix
    Limited Activities
    Longer Assimilation
    Permanent arrows
    G5 RBAI V.5 (installed this hoping to fix the problem, but it didnt)
    Permanent Watchtowers

    I have reinstalled 3 times, with no luck.

    I have attached system log, although there are only a few lines. Attached save game also.

    If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if I have left out any info.

    When you installed did you disable your UAC or 'Run as Admin'

    Hey. Yeah I have UAC disabled and I also ran it as admin to be sure.

    Here is an updated system log now that I've figured out how to get more detail.

    While the log does look 'slightly' messy, those errors are quite normal. Getting the roughly same with *trace enabled.

    Though I do wonder, if the battle crashes, cause of the amount of units and unit-size, and the memory-limit of MII can't handle it. Tried to load the battle 3times and worked fine for me. But I disabled the application-memory limit, so it uses more than those old 32bit apps are usually limit to, specially if it's 64BIT windows with lotso RAM. Experienced something similar after I started playing with SS 6.4, specially if MII was running for some time.

    Not sure if it might help, but I know of certain 'older' games, where exactly this is a massive problem, specially if modded. Dragon Age 1/FA3/vegas with overhauls, AI-mods, texture packs etc are very good examples

    Thanks for the help valky. I tried what you suggested but unfortunately it hasnt fixed the problem.

    I'm also getting this problem (again) on Windows 7, tried running as admin but no change and all the permissions are allowed on the M2TW folder.

    EDIT; Recently tried disabling UAC but it was to no avail and I'm still getting unspecified error during the load screen really want to play and finish my england campaign.

    try using Really Bad AI 5.7, it fixes that bug when fighting with reinforcements

    Hi, I am also having a similar problem with 6.4 where before any battle I start, the game crashes because of an unspecified error. The current campaign: Norway, turn 16, early era. I have all the graphics settings to low and the resolution set right, custom key settings, and all other settings default. I have also downloaded the bug fixes, and absolutely nothing has worked so far, and I'm really at my wit's end. The campaign setting has just SavagaAI and some of the RBAI and other bugfix changes. I have attached the system.log file and all of my save files here.
