Default "Wrong Disc Inserted" message with Kingdoms 1.05

I bought the Gold Edition of Medieval II Total War Kingdoms about a month ago. It worked beautifully, until I learnt there was an additional patch. So, I installed it, and I got the "Wrong Disc Inserted" message every time I tried to activate kingdoms.exe. I have tried installing and uninstalling multiple times, I have tried all three language versions of the patch, nothing changes. I've even completely purged the registry of all entries relating to game.

I've got no idea what to do at this point, except to stick with 1.04. At least it works.

Log in as Administrator, disable the UAC, install the game in C:\Games. Do these, end of problems.

    Didn't work I'm afraid.

I'm using the UK patch as my Language is listed as English (United Kingdom).

Gold or Non-Gold? It can still be the wrong patch.

Gold. I'm running Windows 8 too, if that helps.

Windows 8, like it or not, you will need:
    1. Logged in as Administrator,
    2. UAC disabled,
    3. Take ownership of your drive(s) http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...Store-Problems,
    4. install the game anyplace but C:\Program Files (x86) including Steam.

Yes, Win 8 makes a difference and not a good one. I don't know whether to blame CA, Microsoft or both. The end user now has more work to do.

I've already tried all of that, none of it worked.

Try a different Kingdoms patch? Where did you buy the game?

Australia. When I click Properties on the kingdoms.exe and medieval2.exe files the language is set as English (United Kingdom), so I used the UK patch. I can try the North American and European patches with UAC disabled if you think that would help.

SecuROM suggested disabling DLA but as far as I can see (by looking for the entry in the registry editor) I don't have it on my computer.

Edit: Might be a bit confused. Is a standard Administrator account fine to disable UAC, or do I need to use the built-in Administrator Account?

If your login account says "Administrator", you're it. That's one.
You should be able to disable it from there as far as Win 8 will let you. http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to...-in-windows-7/ Win 8 is supposed to be the same.
Have you taken ownership of your C: drive from the C: drive icon and all files and folders Windows will let you? May have to do it here instead of just the SEGA folder.
Some Australian copies have reported having to use the US patch but it's normally the UK or EU one.

If you are the only one using the computer I assume you unless someone else owns it and has their restrictions on it like parents and schools.

I'm willing to bet it's the wrong patch. Disable UAC and try the different patches as Ron already suggested.
