Default [Tools and Resources] Germanic "framea" spearhead.

    Name: Germanic framea, sharpend
    Producer: ULFBERTH®
    Bought it from: Battlemerchant.com

    Specifications
    • Length: ca 24.5 cm
    • Blade Length: ca 12 cm
    • Material: Unpolished, hand forged carbon steel.
    • Weight: 210 gr.
    • Price: 19,90 EUR
    • Type: Germanic 500 ad javelin spearhead.

After about one year and a re-sharpening:

    Review
This was one of the first things I bought when it comes to reenactment and historical things. And the first spearhead.
It came with a few other things. Wrapped in plastic and protective cap at the tip.
When I got it out I could feel how sharp it was at once. Using it as a knife was no problem.
When I attached it to a shaft (got the nails through on the first try!) things became fun. I could now throw it and stab stuff with it!
I used it for a while, until reusing the shaft for a blunt spearhead to use in reenactment.

Today I put it on a new shaft again and then sharpened it.
The new shaft is just under a meter long and much shorter than the last one. With it I can throw 20 meters or so.
It goes quite a bit into wood:

It makes a dent and small hole in a 2mm steel shield boss. Is very good to throw, and it lands with the head down almost always.
Threw it at the shield i use when doing reenactment/fencing. It went about 5 cm through.

    Pros:
    • Light and fast
    • Easy to assemble
    • Works well
    • Quite versatile. Fit On javelins and partially on spears.
    • Pre-sharpened

    Cons:
    • Unpolished (if that matters to you)

All in all a solid spearhead for javelins and light spears. A good price too. I can recommend this to anyone wanting a Germanic/European style throwing spear!

    8.5/10

Ah yes, I've been looking to get one of these for home defense. Who needs a gun, when you have a throwing spear (I might have to work on my throw, though)!

Cool review. Must be fun to use.

It is fun to use! And it will beat any burglar with a knife. This is a knife on sticks!

How are the rules there? Can I just nominate this one?

All the rules can be found here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?597864 which is where you submit as well.

Basically post in that thread with a link to here.

The current one is a part of something that was laying in pieces in the barn. Had a perfect lenght and such. Even bacame thinner towards the end.

But using the handle from a broom or such would work very well. I started with one of those.

Mine is about a meter in lenght.
