Just, replace the captain model's and textures with the General models and textures, should work.

Do you want to use the family general in custom battles? If this is what you want go to export descr units.txt and remove "no_custom" in the attributes line.
For example:
type barb chieftain cavalry early dacian
dictionary barb_chieftain_cavalry_early_dacian1 ; Barbarian Warlord
category cavalry
class heavy
voice_type General_1
soldier barb_gothic_cavalry, 8, 0, 3
mount generals horse
mount_effect elephant -8, camel -4, chariot +2

so it will look like this:
