Just Doing This For a bit of fun guys please list your favourite Rome Total War Battle you can also use the mods aswell. Right i start it off here it goes. Please add pics or videos if you can enjoy and have fun.

    MOD: SPQR 8.0
FACTION: The Romans 40000 men two regiments of light cavalry
    Turn Move: 2
Enemy: The Gauls 30000 men 3 regiment of light cavalry infantry including mostly spear warband and some missile troops.

    Battle Formation:

Altho slightly outnumbered the Gauls i placed my Roman Army into three lines with the heavy troops at the front.I then put the missile troops behind them with light troop behind them as reinforcement to exploit any breakthrough from the Gaulish attack. My Cavalry was placed at the rear now my right flank was protected by a hill so i used that for protection.

I place my three Regiments of Tiara on the left to protect that flank from a Gaulish Cavalry attack .

    Battle outcome:

The Gauls came on strong charging straight down the center with everything they had there missile troop were left in the rear and causing to much damage to my lines so i moved my two Cavalry Regiments around Gaulish left and attacked them i destroyed most off there missile troops but suffered heavy losses my Cavalry withdrew from the field.

Now at this stage a tough fight was going on my front line between the Gaulish Infantry and my Heavy Infantry in which some of Heavy Troops were about to run.So I moved my Light Infantry in to support the Defence some of Missiel Troops got involed into the hand fighting aswell. My Tiara on the left flank sufferd and surived an attack from the 3 Regiments of Gaulish Cavarly which ran from the field. So i decided to move the leftover Tiara into the left flank of the Gaulish attack which paniced the Gauls and they started to run i didnt chase i reformed my lines and won.

    Losses

Gauls 1,500 after with General killed

Romans 2,355 left with General alive to Regiments of Cavalry and one Missile troops ran from the field.

That's a lot of dead men! My favorite battle is probably what I call the Battle of the Tiber in vanilla, which I wrote about in "Our campaigns" thread.

There's been quite a few memorable battles for me in RTW, mostly in mods. Vanilla was far too easy. Here are some of them, those that have screenies so I remember them.

First one: RTR PE, Roman campaign. I was still a noob back then. I invaded Carthage with two armies+reinforcement/garrison stack. One army and reinforcements landed south of Carthage to take all its provinces east of Carthage itself, while second laid siege to city itself to draw Carthaginian forces to series of decisive battles. And so it happened...in hindsight, I was really noob and used crappy tactics back then, camping in square formation in the corner. But still I won two heroic victories in succession that broke the back of Carthaginian military machine.

A long time later...mod: XGM, Romans again. A numerically superior armies of mostly light troops attacked a post-Marian legion camped on the hill. Memorable for kill/death ratio in a battle with a battle of equal forces.

Next are battles from XGM, Macedonian campaign. First one, an encounter against three Thracian armies. Never before or after I had one unit score so many kills in one battle. Gyras, first faction heir and then leader, killed with his bodyguard unit over 5000 enemies over course of his campaigns. Second battle happened in northwest Balkans, and Romans found out what happens if they try to storm phalanx camped up on a steep hill with heavy fire support.

Last mod is XC. This featured somewhat unusual battles for me. I prefer set piece, large battles where I can rely on elites making the difference, but these featurred often smaller battles where I faced a superior enemy with just militia grade units, and had to outmaneuver him. First one is from Roman campaign, somewhat ironic as my light cavalry contingent sent ahead to reinforce city under siege got attacked by Sarmatian AoR infantry. I had to use maneuvering with cavalry to its fullest extent to defeat superior enemy.

Second is just an example of one of multiple similar battles from beginning of Pontic campaign. With just levy phalangites and other low grade support troops I had to battle stacks of higher quality Seleucid troops, including Argyraspid Phalangitai. It usually ended like this, and in whole campaign I had more heroic victories than in any other.
