Crash on campaign load

So, I got a new laptop and I'm having issues with Shogun 2. My old laptop, which is several years old, could run it reasonably well with low graphics settings. I installed it on my new computer and can start up the game fine. I try and start up a campaign and after being in the loading screen for a short time I get a Shogun II has stopped working message. I tried the cmd bcdedit /set increaseuserva 3000 thing and had the same problem. Did some searching, found this forum and did a little more looking with no success. If anyone could help me out it would be much appreciated. Keep in mind, I'm no computer wiz, especially with this windows 8 thing. Thank in advance!

Bcedit does not work on 64 bit no matter where you set it.
Log in as Administrator, activate your copy of Win 8 and run Windows Update installing all software options.
