Default Need advice on a new processor, Cores don't matter right, just GHz?

I currently have an AMD Phenom II X6 (1055T) 2.8 GHz and it runs the mod fine but not huge battles. However I'm going to get a new processor in the next week or so and I wanted to be sure to purchase one that was ideal to run this mod. For example I think I remember reading some where that this game doesn't take your additional cores into account, is this correct? If so then I should focus on a processor that has high Ghz right?

Thanks for taking the time in answering,
    Charlie

Whilst it's not really a technical 'issue' and, indeed, I'm not fond of the Huge setting as it simply doesn't look and feel right...

I will happily comment that my experience, especially last year in setting up a dedicated standalone to just run the Mod, is that you are more than likely correct.

The one thing I think can be done to help things run smoothly is get a single-core (if possible) processor that runs as fast as you can (at least 3GHz). I don't think over-clocking (never really advised) or super-cooling is necessary, but do make sure the system bus and memory can keep up Then just get a suitable graphics card to match your system. Having recently replaced the one in this PC (which I don't run the game on), you'll probably get one so much better than you actually need.

This is just my opinion though - I hope to test it out myself fully by spending some money in the future. Sadly I'll have to play Rome2 on this machine, which is a bit sad - although my new graphics card will then be used!

RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.
