Default Assigning underage characters traits, portraits, and ancillaries

I am trying to give my faction leader an heir. The heir is under age so i am hesitant to script him because it would be necessary for him to have the appropriate portrait, traits, and ancillaries. I know in M2TW it can be done but i haven't modded Rome to this extent. What would be the process to assigning a portrait and scripting traits for the youth?
    Thanks

For portraits it would only be possible using the alexander executable. The scripting part for traits would be a lot more complicated and I am not fully sure it could be done here in RTW, House Of Ham or someone with his exp would have to confirm or deny that option.

Personally if I were you I would simply add him in at the beginning of the campaign since you can just input the traits into the descr_strat that way or drop the idea of giving him select traits completely.

    That's too bad.

The mod i am using uses portraits for various characters and it isn't Alexander. Some, like Antony in 58 BC, are even scripted with portraits. If i were to just have the general from the beginning how would i give him a specific portrait? I have searched for an answer but most threads i found were associated with M2TW fixes. I know how the tga is filed and whatnot but i can't find what file connects the associated portrait to the family member in the descr_strat?

Do starting generals consistently get the same portraits? If so then it would be possible to just replace the new over the existing one.

The portraits for the generals are pseudo-random generated.

Meaning the order of portrait appears random but the sequence of order is very predictable.

So to answer your question, in RTW, the starting generals do have the same portrait, unless you add or delete the existing portraits, then the starting general would have a changed portrait due to the reshuffling of the random order.

One way for us to hard-order a portrait for a specific general would be to find out the current index of the starting general's portrait and then swap out the portrait you would like to display onto that index location.

If the portraits were scripted in then simply copy that script and tailor it until it works for the faction heir you want to add in. To my knowledge it was only possible on the alex exe but good on the creators of that mod if they did manage it on other exe's to.

You can't find anything because there isn't anything that connects a character to what portrait it should get. RTW does have some sort of pattern (which is hardcoded) to the way it chooses the portrait for whatever character it does, I know that from playing experience. Seems like there is a random chance for a different portrait though. I have a feeling it might even be something as simple as moving from the first file to the next... I can confirm that starting general's do not consistently get the same portrait however they do tend to get certain portraits more than others like I just stated.

I'm not trying to be a cynic but I doubt the mod was able to control anything other than the name of the character spawning at the date 58 BC and perhaps the traits/levels of command/influence/management...& so far it is only luck giving the same portrait, if tested more often I am sure there will be a change in portrait from time to time
