    Default Marius reforms without Rome?

Hello there. So I have a campaign as Carthage, and I've wiped out the Romans before Marius Reforms take place. So I'm wondering if they can take place without the Roman faction, as the reforms effect several other nations now too, such as seleucia and their silver shield legionnaires, and the Poeni infantry of carthage. Anyone know? Thanks.

The reforms won't happen unless a Roman faction builds an Imperial Palace in Italy. So no reforms for you unfortunately.

It has it's advantages, if you knock of off Rome early, then if you're a faction that doesn't rely on the reforms for good units, just destroy Rome.

In the descr_events file theres the following entry:

    ;event historic a_new_man__gaius_marius
    ;date 154 summer

Which im pretty sure is the same one as the reforms event isnt it?

I dont really know (im sure someone can tell me im wrong if i am), but maybe if you wait long enough the reforms trigger by themselves?

The Reforms are hard coded. They happen when Rome builds an Imperial Palace. There's no possible way to alter it.

Locky is correct. That entry in descr_events is a left-over from a pre-release version of RTW. It doesn't do anything. If you want to get post-Marius units without the reforms you can just go through export_descr_buildings.txt and remove the "requires marian_reforms" bits from the recruit lines.

Tho that wouldn't make sence for gameplay reasons. If there are no legions how can someone copy thier war-wining fighting style (especially when they actually lost the war)
