Windows 7 SS 6.4 Launch Error

I have recently had to re-install all programs on my computer from scratch. I recall previously that I had issues getting SS 6.4 to cooperate with Windows 7 immediately after launch. I can not, however, recall what I did to fix the issue. Nor did I find it after about 20 minutes of searching this forum. So, here is my call for help.

First, it should be noted that the program is installed in a non-standard path. Namely, I have an SSD for operating system and the game is installed on an external drive.

Second, the issue at hand. I have installed everything as administrator. SS6.3 launched with no issues before I installed 6.4 I tested this several times and have un and re installed the whole schebang a half dozen times.

What happens is that, after running the 6.4 exe to start the game, it loads up the black screen as if it is launching and then just disappears. I've run it as administrator and as not. I've tried everything I can think of. Help, please? I'm sure it is probably some simple little file edit to fix this, but I can't figure it out.

I was having this problem just a few minutes ago, make sure UAC is off, then run the 6.4 exe again. It fixed this for me for some reason, hopefully it'll do the same for you
