A submod based on the Radious Total War Rise of the Samurai modfiles.

RotS R+ is a standalone mod for vanilla S2-RotS with a complete unique approach,
which tries to put an emphasis on the Gempei war.

Dev parameters:
M/M, short campaign, unit size large, realism mode,
battletime limit 60 min. or none, dev/player faction Minamoto.
This is the way and base, how i playtested/developed the submod,
everybody can try any other way, of course.

Features, v1.0-1.1
- Faction balance focus: Emphasis on Minamoto and Taira, Fujiwara have disadvantages (historical reflection of the according period).
- Unit balance: Minamoto emphasis on Bushido, Taira emphasis on Koryu.
- Custom Realm Divide mod (realm divide event not negated, but way delayed to a kind of insignificance).
- Anti "Agent Total War" mod (agent recruitment number reduced to one, except for the Sou still five, skill capability and progression way reduced).
- Special ability bonusses/penalties values neutralised (meant are the unit extra buttons, they make no change now, which helps
especially the AI, as the AI nearly never applies them or even has no technical capability for these features).
- Campaign and combat, balance/gameplay: Complete overworked, way too much to mention the details;
examples campaign: factions have much more time to develop and will survive far longer, factions behave more "historically",
examples battle: overall more realistic combat mechanics, more one vs. one warrior fighting, unit formations/deployments more like medieval Japan.
- Modified files: Nearly all Radious Total War Rots db files, some relevant vanilla files added and modified.
- Soundbug fix on board (applicable for the submod only), you'll have no units which sound like gunners.

New features v1.2
- Pack file format changed to movie. No mod manager application! (See below, installation is very easy now).
- Unit movement/fatigue changed so units won't be exhausted due to its movement (for walking, running, idle, ready), as battle AI consideration decision.
- AI general unit rarely will charge head-on fighting alone at your lines.
- Some unit ownerships changed, so ie. Taira will be a more capable and threatening faction than before, while still there
are quite some faction-unique units.
- Some recruitment buildings offer now unit recruitment, which is basicly not accessed per faction-group (Taira, Minamoto
and Fujiwara; local unit recruitment of subjugated regions by the new ruler via factional buildings).
- All pirate land unit files are removed from the mod file (land pirates recruitment was already disabled with v1.1, as not fitting to the period).
- Minor other things.
- The download file is heavily compressed to 20 MB and is a .7z format. One should be able to extract it with 7zip, Winzip or Winrar, at best would be 7zip installed.
Extracted it is around 95 MB.

Preparation:
- A clean S2TW/RotS installation is recommendation, disable/deactivate S2/Rots mods for the time when playing this mod.
- In case you used this mod already, remove the former RotS Realism+ pack files from the S2 data folder (except for the _upc_german file if used, it's the same).

Installation:
- Extract the downloaded mod file "RotS_R+" where you like.
- Copy the 2 pack files, and then paste them into the S2 data folder.
- Ready.

Gaming:
- Start S2TW as usually.
- Play the modded Rise of the Samurai campaign.


Compatibility:
- Probably all mods which don't modify campaign, unit and AI files, ie. pure frontend graphics and music/sounds mods (please don't ask me).
- UPC, Unit Pack Compatibility (at least in my experience).

This is the customised UPC pack file for the german language S2 version, respectively customised for this RotS Realism+ mod.
Changes in this UPC file: (only)
The Rots vanilla units and the Radious Rots units have changed names, which lean towards japanese language respectively the unit meanings in the according period (ie. the word 'Samurai' isn't used anymore for the Gempei units, because it didn't exist at the time).
Users familiar with the PFM tool could use that as template for ie. the english UPC file to applying it for this mod (aka porting the according unit names into your language UPC file).
Installation: Unzip within the S2 data folder, ready. Note, this pack file is in movie format (no activation via Mod Manager required), and that means, you can have only one such UPC pack file active at the time in the S2 data folder.

Probably no.
RL doesn't allows it. While from time to time i need some "vacation" from the usual day(-stress), and play (and then mod) TW mods.
Here the submod is such a case, where i finally played RotS, instantly bored from vanilla, found Radious Rots mod, and modified it to get my kind of play (which leans towards a historical-realism gameplay). I just share here the result, also especially because there is obviously kinda lack of Rots mods.

It is technically a submod as it uses the Radious Rots mod files. All my modding work is unique though ... nice to see others like it also for the Gempei campaign.

I have not played nor installed Fots, so there is little chance, but who knows, there might come the day when i feel the need for Fots (as it happened with Rots).

Yes, actually i recently play(ed) this submod once more and had a lot Minamoto fun again (i did some small updates for agent skills and some minor others things, but they have no decisive or real important impact).

In my playtesting the Minamoto-Kamakura faction on M/M, i had a pretty hard challenge, and fun.
