Default Anyone else have a problem with creating Latvian Crossbowmen and Bajorija units?

I keep trying to use create unit code playing Lithuanian campaign for Latvian Crossbowmen and Bajorija/Dismounted Bajorija but it won't work I can create other unit no problem but I can't figure these out. If anyone else knows the proper names or has encountered this situation I would appreciate feedback or help.

There are many units in the game which have a name like "Polish Shooters" in the EDU -- the datafiles, etc - but will be called 'strekzlkies' (Polish Crossbow Cavalry) -- And Vice Versa.

I checked for the Bajorija -- they are called "Szlachta" because, apparently Barorija whatever the heck that is has any kind of meaning above "Szlachta" for the bulk of anglophone players =P

Latvian Crossbow --- they are called "Lettish_Crossbowmen"

    Dismounted Barorija --- "Dismounted_Szlachta"

Thanks for the info and for the quick response.I don't get why they would have units with alternate names, it seems redundant to take the time to create and describe the units then have to create another name for the same thing.

I feel the Lithuanian Faction has a lot of units who are too "all over the place" - I really get the impression that it was put together at the last minute.

As for these name issues --- in my manual on the CD case, these Barorija were going to be called "Stleka" -- so here we see, 3 names for the same unit ... Slekta, Slzacha, and Barorija .. and all they had to do was call them.... "Baltic Nobles"

You got at the heart of it,easy turned hard on purpose.Think what they could do with all the time wasted on stuff of that nature and by putting it back in to other areas. So, is this same deal with all the factions, a bunch of obscure titles for units that aren't even close?

There aren't very many differences in the Vanilla m2tw EDU (and other files) between the unit names. Most of the differences, are small denotations - for instance, Hungarian Chilvaric Knights are called E_Chivalric_Knights.

Some units with special names, are also special types of units -- for instace, Svenner -- A typical Light cav unit, but with far more men in it -- that's very unique to me.

Even the polish strecklies -- also a unique style of unit, different than the other Xbow cav because they upgrade far more in armor , have shields, have axes, and come right from the beginning of the game. Very unique in my mind.

Where as something like Barorija -- yes they have axes, and yes they upgrade armor twice, but really they are the basic "Knight" unit. so I don't enjoy it as much to have them get a strange name.

Yea I know what you mean. Now that I know the name the unit really isn't worth the trouble of it for what they are.The Dievas Guard are at least as good as them seems to me plus the Chivalric Knights. The name Bajorija and those axes had me intrigued but like you pointed out nothing special about them except the name. The Lettish Crossbowmen I do prefer them over the Baltic Archers,so at least there is that.Just hope all those German sounding Teutonic units don't have alternate names as well, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it, I still have to finish my Lithuanian campaign. Now I have to decide to convert or remain pagan.I'm not sure what impact, other than priests and name of religion changing, that it will have on the campaign?

I also had an issue with Landskencht Pikemen for the Holy Roman Empire because it kept saying it didn't recognize the unit.It must have alternate name or spellings as well.Sometimes these issues make me want to pull my hair out, complicated for complicated's sake isn't good.

When you convert you'll have to deal with high levels of unhapieness because your now christian lands will be barely christian. You also loose all your special units like dieval guard but get gunpowder and a few european style knights IIRC.

IIRC you need to convert to catholic to enable huge cities (or large??) and citadels.
