    Default Names Pool

    Hi Guys,

I want to modify the names of just about everybody in a faction, i can do this from the start for first faction leader, minister, and general, but when i recruit somebody new it uses the specific pool of names, greek or someother pool. How can i make a faction take the names from a specific pool of names? like names_name_names_french?

For example Georgia the faction i toke to make a new custom faction, uses greek pool for name, i looked in the arrays but i didnt found the option where the decide to use a specific pool.

    Thanks

It seems the forum made 2 threads due to lag, sorry about that.

To answer my question i found by mistake, its called Name Group in DB/Factions_Tables/Faction main.pack. Now the question is if i make new name fields in the loc file, lets say names_x, and select them here, will they work? Thanks

To have this for future use, our master, Husser (many thanks mate) said:

You can always add new names but in one of the existing groups (e.g. English). You cannot create a new name group (e.g. Finish). You'll always use the existing name groups where you can change or add names. Of course CA can add whatever she likes since she is the creator of this software, though I do not think she has added any new names group in any DLC (no new factions have been added except Natives in Warpth which use an existing name group).

Anyway the random use of names is a biggest problem than that...

I reached the same conclusion into my findings. So find a minor faction that has region group names, and use that.

    I will

    Thanks a bunch idragon!!!

For the past 3 hours I've been banging my head against this problem.

I created a new names group called names_crimean. I added 180 male forenames, 80 surnames, and 80 female forenames. All that research and work for naught...

I think the problem with custom forenames is that the starting characters like Ministers, Generals, Admirals, any Agents, reference the original names groups.

I tried to trick the system by including or covering the Minister, Generals, and Agents' names in my custom names group. No luck.

Next, I was thinking of editing starting characters... but they need to have a fixed ID... and that gets into the problem that you can't CREATE any NEW armies, units, characters, agents OR DELETE EXISTING armies, characters, etc on the campaign map due to their hard-coded IDs.

It's the chicken before the egg debacle. In order for the new unit to exist, it has to have a unique ID... but since it's custom, new... it doesn't have anything yet, so needs to be input into game to exist to obtain an ID. GAH!!!

Well, at the very least, I was able to change the title of Crimean Khanate's faction leader DevletI from an ill-fitting Tsar to Khan. Come on, CA... a KHAN rules a KHANate... a TSAR rules a TSARdom.
