Validating

I ran Steam game validation after getting game freezing during Campaign.
Steam reported 3 files 'failed to validate' and will be re-aquired.
However, on running again after further freezing the same 3 files were
still showing as not validated! How do you re-aquire failed files?
Also, any thoughts on why I'm getting screen freeze during Campaigns,
mainly when a new Agent is recruited??
