Unable to Find Games on Lan

So my friend and I wanted to play LAN on Rome, so we booted up Evolve HQ and connected to the same party to play. We went in-game and I created a game, but he was unable to see the game at all. Both of our versions are 1.3, but he has the gold version. I have the traditional Rome game that came out in 2004.

To make sure our party actually worked, we booted up Torchlight II and played LAN there. Not sure why Rome isn't working.

Gold version ships updated to 1.5 out of the box I'm sure.

You will need to update from 1.3 to 1.5.

Some of the early Rome Golds were not 1.5.

The actual version of the game is shown on the top right hand side of the Options Menu. That is the only number to trust.

The installs need to be exactly the same - the only files that can be different are the preference.txt. The map.rwm files should be deleted - look in '...data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign'.

Oh, I've played multiplayer for quite awhile. Been playing since '04, or whenever the game first came out. Just wanted to lan with my friend because it seems to actually lag less on lan networks compared to Gamespy.
