    Default Assasins ruining my Mordor campaign

    I have been having a fun Mordor campaign of MOS. But Assasins continualy have robbed me of the Witch King and other top Nazgul. This is against the lore of LOTR and i continualy reboot a saved spot so i dont have my game ruined by losing a top leader every few turns by assasins. They i go through the anoyance of fighting the same battles again because of it.I keep a spy with my armies always but nothing seems to work. If i lose a leader in battle thats part of the fun and drama. I dont want an easier game. But assasins just randomly taking away top leaders sometimes in bunches ruins the campaign as they have nothing to do with LOTR.What can be done?

    If you want to be true to the lore, just start the campaign with immortal Nazgūl. If one gets taken out, he respawns at Barad-dūr.

    It makes the Mordor campaign almost unbearably easy, but it's correct lore-wise.

    Unaceptable for me to use immortal Nazgul. Way too easy and no sense of loss if one dies. I would only use it if they could only be killed by Elves or Elf blades used by other characters. Until then now way. Love this submod though

    Adding a spy to your army reduces the chance of success for enemy spies and assassins.
    In it for the rep.

    It isn't so far from lore-accuracy : the ways of the rangers of Ithilien for example are close to the ways of the assassins. Yet, I can understand why this is not very logical talking about Nazguls...

    It ruins the game to have Witch king and Khamul downed by medieval assasins in a span of three turns. Just my opinion. I solved the problem by making a save called Assasins that i make at the end of every turn. I dont accept that aspect of the game in middle earth. Fit in MTW but not in this game.

    Then you can remove it;

    Open export_descr_buildings.txt found in the Third_Age_3/data-folder and look for this section;
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    ;############################################################
    ;######################## TAVERNS #########################
    ;############################################################

    and block out the assasins. Example unedited:
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Code:
            inn city requires factions { sicily, byzantium, milan, scotland, turks, spain, venice, england, france, hre, portugal, egypt, mongols, moors, }         {
                capability
                {
                    agent spy  0  requires factions { sicily, byzantium, milan, scotland, turks, }
                    agent assassin 0 requires factions { sicily, byzantium, milan, scotland, turks, } and event_counter fellowship 0
                    agent spy  0  requires factions { spain, venice, }
                    agent assassin 0 requires factions { spain, venice, } and event_counter fellowship 0
                    agent spy  0  requires factions { england, france, hre, portugal, }
                    agent assassin 0 requires factions { england, france, hre, portugal, } and event_counter fellowship 0
                    agent spy  0  requires factions { egypt, mongols, }
                    agent spy  0  requires factions { moors, }
                    agent assassin  0  requires factions { moors, }  and event_counter fellowship 0
                    agent_limit assassin 1
                    agent_limit spy 1

    and then use ; to block the assasins out like this:
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Code:
            inn city requires factions { sicily, byzantium, milan, scotland, turks, spain, venice, england, france, hre, portugal, egypt, mongols, moors, }         {
                capability
                {
                    agent spy  0  requires factions { sicily, byzantium, milan, scotland, turks, }
    ; agent assassin 0 requires factions { sicily, byzantium, milan, scotland, turks, } and event_counter fellowship 0
                    agent spy  0  requires factions { spain, venice, }
    ;                agent assassin  0  requires factions { spain, venice, }  and event_counter fellowship 0
                    agent spy  0  requires factions { england, france, hre, portugal, }
    ; agent assassin 0 requires factions { england, france, hre, portugal, } and event_counter fellowship 0
                    agent spy  0  requires factions { egypt, mongols, }
                    agent spy  0  requires factions { moors, }
    ;                agent assassin  0  requires factions { moors, }  and event_counter fellowship 0
                    agent_limit assassin 1
                    agent_limit spy 1
    4 buildings to do this at.
    Then assasins can not be recruted.
    Think, but not sure, it's saved game compatible (won't help with any already existing assasins, mind you)

    It's not hard to remove assassins from the game, just follow what Ngugi posted. My last Mordor campaign which I think was on MOS 1.3 I don't recall having assassin problems. Mordor can build assassins too I believe, you must assassinate the assassins

    You can also kill enemy agents by occupying every tile around them and then moving an army over them.

    If your're desperate, use the move_character cheat

    Code:
    move__character "Name" "coordinates"

    Its actualy no biggy. The save game feature fixes it. Assasins are cool in Medieval total War but dont care for them in Middle Earth.

    Glad to hear your immediate problems were solved, though I don't quite get why you're against assassins in TATW. I find it quite in accordance with the lore for both sides to deal in subterfuge and infiltration, especially for the Dark Powers, and assassinations aren't unheard of in Tolkiens literature.

    I'm playing a Mordor campaign as well, and I've had my troubles with a handful of Gondor assassins as well, though so far they've only cost me a couple of sabotages, a single orc general, no Nazgūl. I've found that training an assassin with the special purpose of killing other assassins have worked well. I paired him up with my best spy and started ofc with the weakest of the enemy assassins (75% chance of success). Since then I kill any assassin that shows up with great reliability (95%). Considering how hard spies can be to kill, assassins drop like flies.

    I dissagree with you on assasins being in accordance with the lore. And because i don't think it is it comes off as out of place and a bit anticlimactic as well. Having Nazgul killed by assasins is absurd. Although it can be dealt with in game i would prefer not to have to bother.
