Default I would buy a Campaign map editor for Rome 2 Total war. Anyone else???

I believe CA is missing a grand opportunity to make a little cash on the side here. I say what total war games need is modability of course and more replayability. I for one would pay money for a Grand Campaign Map editor and such creating new worlds and different lands to conquer is something I always wanted to create. Imagine all the kinds of campaigns we could create historical even fantasy or even futuristic even steampunk the worlds we could create would be immense. This is something CA can profit from and would help keep their games alive!!!

I say this why not?? Why not sell us editors so we can create are own Campaigns make it a bit user friendly and off we go. I for one have a Campaign in mind my self its sort of like a Skyrim type of world but different this I would love to try and do and would enjoy to share with others. CA this is something that is truly needed and why not? You would make a extra buck by selling the tools I wouldn't see the harm in that what so ever.

How do you guys feel about this and what are your thoughts and what worlds would you create? My world would be 350 Regions Fantasy world with 100 Factions All of them playable!! with a bit of a Skyrim feel to it with Dragons!! if possible A world full of Political strife and rebellion. And alot of Family in fighting Clans fighting each other and so much more!!

why give them another idea to make us pay more money, it should be given for free. Why should we have to pay to edit and mod their game...

More reason for them to have a reason to give us modding tools you have to think about it man. I believe that we should have mod tools for free but its not the way of the world anymore. Id prefer to buy modding tools vs not having any modding tools.

I'll tell you why....as a proffessional software developer I'd love you to understand that software doesn't grows up from the trees, it requires a lot of work from highly skilled and specialiced guys, so, if you want it, and you don't know how to make it by yourself , just buy it. It seems an easy deal for me.

As a current novice software developer i do know for myself, yet I was simply saying why should they make a editing software that you should have to pay for when they have been giving it out for free ever since.

so no, I don't think software grows on trees. As you so kindly put it.

I thing there is no answer to this question as long as the majority of people are mindless and they just want to buy...
Sorry if I had offended someone.

Why should we have to pay for such a tool? CA should be looking to make their games as mod-friendly as possible, for free. That's the reason Rome I and Medieval II still have thriving communities whilst the Empire and Napoleon communities are already starting to die down. Modding extends the lifespan of a game indefinitely as well as increasing the potential quality of the game.

Well free is a thing of the passed anymore man. To be honest like I said before Id rather buy modding tools vs not having any modding tool what so ever. Think of it this way A campaign map editor would be a huge tool!!!! So it would be worth its weight in gold to get because of the possabilitys and things you can create. If they did this the game would last even longer then the older games I know it for sure and it helps CA bank a little more cash so they can create even betters tools and even better Total war games I see a win win here guys why don't you??? Why must everything be free? To be honest in my mind nothing is ever free.

companies don't care for "thriving communities", they care for sales

Yes, and thriving communities give the game a longer lifespan meaning more sales.

I hope realize that such a tool was included in the assembly kit. The problem with it is that it's complicated, it demands a certain level of skill and knowledge from the user and even then it's very time consuming.

My guess is you don't want that, you want something along the lines of the battle map editor.

I have seen no where on the forums or in the assembly kit that allows us to create are own Campaign world so yes id prefer a working editor not files. It would be worth the buy and save a heck of alot more time then trying to somehow build your own. Plus allows CA to have more cash on hand to make better tools and better total war games.

BTW, afaik the tools CA released were just these, the tools they themselves created and used. Creating a campaign map is not easy, that's why they make one, not fifty. You think they don't want something like the battle map editor that allowed you to create a battle map in say half an hour of semi-focused work?

edit: pasted the original post by Spartan Warrior so that it's clearer whose work it is. I wish I could do what he has managed. In his free time.

This is very nice!!! I have to say that would be wonderful having a working Campaign map editor like this but what are you trying to prove is there a working program to allow us to do the same like in these photos or not. If not then there is no point until a program is released.

That is created with assembly kit. People whining about how moddable RTW and M2TW were need to realize that the new games are times more complex. Due to that, modding them is pretty hard.
At first, those people were whining that there were no modding tools for E/N/S2. After they were released, they started whining that it was too hard to use them.
When people are ******** that they need an 'easy, rtw-like editor', they, due to the extra chromosome they seem to have, do not realize that:
    a) Tools that are released are used by CA themselves, they have stated that.
    b) It would cost a lot of money, probably hundreds of thousands of dollars, to create an 'easy, rtw-like editor'. Are the whiners gonna pay for it?

Absolutely impressive work. You may be our only hope for R2. I don't think anyone else has done anything like this.

I'd love to have a chance of being able to make a campaign map! i'd love to try at least! I don't need a perfect one. But I'm sure there wil be modders that would make beautiful maps!

what you just described sounds more like Game of throne's then Skyrim. Map tool would be great though. I would love to write my own story, and being able to construct a map for it would really help in creating the world.
    2013=Westeros Total War + Rome 2 Total War..EPIC
