TW Shogun II CTD Issues.

Hi Guys, Long time fan of the series and use TWCenter for all my mods but never really posted much. So I had Shogun II installed and run beautifully for a LONG LONG time. no problems.

I changed some things on my PC and ended up uninstalling Shogun via steam. I've just re installed it and I keep getting really bad CTD issues. I know when it was first released there was CTD issues with DX 11 and it was required to be run in DX 9 but I figured this would be fixed by now, there is no pattern to the crashes of the game. Just happens randomly. If I play a custom battle I can usually complete one or two battles before a CTD but if I try to start a new campaign it CTD's before the end of my first turn.

I am running vanilla apart from the Extended Years v1.4 Mod but I've removed this and it still does it.

I am running in DX 11 and I tried once with DX 9 it had the same issue. Settings are set as high as possible. My system specifications are here.

AMD Phennon II x 6 @ 5.0GHZ
Sapphire HD 7970 Toxic
8 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR 1800 RAM
WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD (the game is installed on)

I've read a couple of tricks to get it working, ie running in DX9, I varified the game Cache via Steam and no problems there and I even uninstalled and re installed. Drivers are up to do, both Mobo & GPU. Running on CAT 13.1 and up to date CAP's

Anyone got any tips or advice on what the issue might be?

Just to add I noticed I have really long load times too, I mean abnormally long but didn't think much of this.

Since you uninstalled via Steam instead of deleting both Shogun2 folders and doing a clean install, hard telling what did not get updated.
Since the update and the release of the Rise of the Samurai, load times have progressively gotten longer.
Dx11 does take longer than dx9. In fact any uptick of graphics will extend load times.
Mods can do strange things to load times. Been doing it since Medieval1.
Anything you are running in the background unrelated to the game can extend load times and game play.

Thanks for the prompt response, I did delete the game folder when I uninstalled it, I should've mention that.

Also I do not have any expansions, ie ROTS or FOTS. Just vanilla TWS 2

Ill give the link a read too. Cheers, the loading tines do no bother me in the slightest. Its the CTD I am getting.

What is the current version @ build?

Cheers for the help. I verified the files again and 3 files couldn't be verified. It updated and re-downloaded the files and it is working now "Touch wood" It hasn't crashed since and I've got into the campaign a bit, (this is working with DX11 FULL eyecandy/everything.

If it's worth for you to know, me, and for what it seems, many other people out there, are having an insane amount of CTD's with this game. They just appear randomly, as you described, more frequently in Dx11, but also on Dx9.

I have tried any single solution propossed to me. No luck. I just came to the conclusion this game is somehow screwed up.

Maybe it is important to point out that these issues appeared after the patch for FOTS, though it doens't requiere you to have it for the CTD's to appear.

Strange that I have almost never had any CTD for vanilla Total War games. I di have afreeze in Shogun 2 once but that was a very early release, pre ROTS if I'm not mistaken. Even for ETW only hen the game was early released I had few CTD but since the final patch there's never once a CTD for me. Maybe I'm lucky I don't know.
