You will have the SAME avatar because you are on the SAME steam account on the SAME game (I think). The reason I think the avatar will be the same is because it is linked to the same online account (for the same steam account).

How do you suppose you are going to play avatar mode (an online multiplayer mode) without having internet?

You need internet to download steam, the game, and to update the game, but you can set steam to offline mode which means you will be able to play without internet.

Wait for Steam sales. If 60 or whatever amount is too expensive then wait for the sales. Wait for 75% sales. That's what I did for the majority of the games that I've bought on Steam.

exactly that, I think the last game that i purchased on steam was kotor, i paid R$5 for it, granted old game, but ntw was purchase after a year or so

you can play TWR2 on two separate computers on Steam, and if the game supports LAN, then you can play against each other in battles. All that is required, is for one computer to go to offline mode, and then connect the two computers together by an ethernet cable. I've done thison a few games, like Torchlight 2, so it does work.
