Default The armor upgrade will be visible in the game?

In old game of TW series, Medieval2, the armor upgrades was visible.I mean,we saw the addition of new pieces of armor in military units, when was added leather or iron .Though the games Empire and Napoleon, this feature was not required, but in the Shogun2,CA just not implemented it, by carelessness or due to limitations of the game engine. I hope to see it again in Rome 2,although many units have a uniform equipment, some of them could improve its armature,it was realistic and gave a much more appealing visual effect.

This was one piece of eye candy that I really enjoyed, I hope it makes a return but I think it may be unlikely as they left it out of Shogun 2.

I really liked it too, when units get armor or weapon upgrade, then it was visible in battlefield. so YES!

It gives great unit diversity, as two of the same units can look completely different, and is Historically accurate (to a point: no peasents in the segmentata etc). I'm not nuanced in all of this coding and graphics business, however it's only 3 variations of a model per unit. If it's not in the release (which it should be) dare I say DLC?

I always wondered if they showed the armor upgrades, or i was just confusing unit looks :p But yes, i like the idea, and it should be back for Rome 2

Armor upgrades were not visible in Shogun 2 because there was no significant improvement in armor design during the time period of 60 years. It's funny seeing people talk so much about "historical accuracy" here, but they know nuts about it. Since Rome 2 covers 300 years, we might see visible changes in armor. Or perhaps not.

The leather and the iron was discovered before the medieval era to,they didn't research nothing they just improve their troops armour using old materials. And in shogun there are armourys who improve armour ,but only in stats and not visible in the game.

They won't bring it back. M2TW was made by an entirely different studio. It was made by Sega Brisbane, here in Australia. It was very different in terms of where the emphasis went. gameplay immersion has gone out the window since ETW (yes. I said ETW). NTW and Shogun 2 have been successively worse in terms of depth of play and immersion, and have instead focused on graphics and "features".

Rome 2 would be the perfect title to bring us some really beefy immersion features, all of which have been recommended already by now.
Alas Creative Assembly has becoming a marketing madhouse, and sales are more important than anything else. I mean wtf!? They've already started on the next title!

Actually I think Napoleon and Shogun 2 were their most atmospheric games ever. Napoleon had an awesome soundtrack and I found it rather enjoyable after the sub-par Empire. Shogun 2 on the other hand was a very graphical and captured the Japanese atmosphere perfectly. It had things like blossoms flying around in the battlefield, its gameplay was the best in the series so far and its music was also awesome. I think the games have acquired a lot of immersion since RTW.

Rome II was also started before Shogun 2 was finished. Usually when a game approaches beta stage they start to plan the next. It is worth remembering that CA is also a business, and business above all else. Still, they manage to make their games enjoyable instead of companies such as Blizzard or Electronic arts that basically publish the same game over and over again with one or two changes and call it new with a 50€ price tag.

I disliked both the music for Empire and Napoléon. There wasn't enough of them, or rather, they were too similars. They all had the same mood and didn't fit the various moments of the gameplay.

As to Shogun 2, yes the campaign map and the japanese graphical touchs were very nice. It had great gameplay elements too, but the campaigns were repetitives (not necessarilly by a lack of units per se, just the setting and the lack of clan customization by the player) and the battles way too fast. I played a FOTS battle yesterday it was over in 1'30"... Really... The ennemy army walked inthe fire range and whole units were slaughtered in seconds.
The battle lasted a bit more (with the minimal movement phase and some skirmish with the remaining ennemy units) but the main fighting was over in a minute.

The same thing can happen in the Shogun 2 vanilla. Melee rush, one minute of fighting where whole units get decimated and everybody start to rout.

    It's way too fast.

I don't mind quick battle in the vanilla, but you should be able to do something about how the fighting is going.

It doesn't happen all the time, if you have the good techs and generals, melee will last longer (sometimes to the point of being irritating in the hardest difficulty levels when ennemy samourais fight to the last man) but the casualties happen still too fast imo.

I really do hope CA reintroduce visible armour changes, it was one of those small touches which made Medieval II great. But if they didn't in Shogun then I doubt they will in Rome II

I want to see town militia in full segmenta armor and peasants in kataphract armor! Armor upgrades made lame units in M2TW so epic!

Hahahahahaha,....Not in your way but i can completely prove you that this feature will be include in the Rome II TW.Are you remember the first Discussion about units and factions that jack lusted discussed some of armors and weapons of different factions.I can remember the cataphracts armors what one of the types were leather type besides the scale and Lamellar types.I am pretty sure that the leather type will be their preupgrade one and the the rest must be upgraded types of leather type. And if that so we can sure that the other factions also include the same feature.

I may not be remembering it correctly, but Im pretty sure that was the leather that was supposed to go UNDER the armor...

But I would most certainly love this feature. I know it's small, and really not important for gameplay, but it really made me feel like I was making progress! I loved going from an unarmored, clearly peasant levy, to a highly trained, veteran force of well-equipped, semi-professional warriors. And all with simple spear milita!

I don't see the use, I don't want it, but it wouldn't bother me ahving it.
