Default Ways to Slow Down Combat? (TROM3)

Forgive the lack of paragraphs as for some reason the site is not letting me make them. Hey there. I posed this question in the TROM3 forum but it is mostly dead. That said it is a question that could be relevant to any mod so I thought I would ask it here as well! Something that I would like to change is the pace of combat. It seems to be over far too quickly. This is speaking from the perspective of Shogun 2 and Fall of the Samurai. My first concern is that units rout too quickly. My second concern is that kill rates are too quick as well. These issues are present in both Shogun 2 and Fall of the Samurai. In Shogun 2 I am posed with the option to increase unit sizes by a large margin so that kill rates do not eliminate a unit as quickly. There is also the option to increase melee defence though I don't know by how much nor how that will impact the overall balance of the mod. I could increase the HP in battle entities but I am also not sure how that would impact the overall balance of the mod. In Fall of the Samurai I would like to make it so that only the first line fires for all units, save for kneel fire, and see if that slows down the combat. Not sure how to do that though. I tried looking in unit_to_unit_abilities_junctions and do not see any lines there that have to do with mass_fire etc. On top of all that I wonder if increasing morale all the way around would make battles lost longer. TL/DR: I would like some advice on what to mod to make units/battles last longer (at least two times longer than they currently do).

I am not sure how TROM balanced their units since I don't have it but for vanilla Shogun I gave units +10 morale, +20 defense skill, and halved their attack. I also lowered the cav bonus spear troops get to 1 since it seems that their animation set already makes them effective against cavalry. Overall battles last much longer and several more tweaks pretty much eliminated the arcadey RPS balancing.

TROM does something similar, just wanting to decrease the kill rates/battle speeds even more. Is it possible to increase morale, defense skill, and decrease attack by a percentage for all units at the same time or would I have to go in individually and increase their stats one by one in unit_stats_land?

I had to manually change all the stats, but it should be fairly quick to do. It took me around ten minutes to get through all the Shogun units(excluding ships and dlc units)

I see. Well I shall try that then, thank you!

I would like to do the same thing, but also slow unit movement speed down. I've never really modded the stats before, so could you also quickly point me to the files I should be changing, and by what values seem to work well to accomplish what the OP was looking for?
