Your Most Played/Least Played Total War Game

Which is your most played or least played game in the Total War series? For me a 'least played' Total War game isn't a sign that it's necessarily bad - for instance I've probably spent less time on Viking Invasion than on Empire, but I prefer Viking Invasion to Empire.

I think on reflection for me the least played game in the series was Alexander. I personally enjoyed playing it, but after I had won the campaign and all the historical battles I wasn't compelled to go back and play it, considering its such a minor expansion pack. Of the major games in the series Napoleon is probably my least played - again it's not a bad game at all, it's very well made, but I never got into the campaigns much. After that comes Medieval II, but that's mostly because I got it very late - a few years after release, and by that time Empire had come out. Still, the Kingdoms campaigns are fantastic - I hope CA does something similar with the Rome II exapnsion.

Rome is probably the most playing time I've ever devoted to a Total War game. With all the mods like RTR and Roma Surrectum I've probably poured hundreds of hours into the game over the last nine years or so. According to my Steam stats I've played Shogun 2 more than Empire and Napoleon combined.

1. M2TW- and i cant stand it anymore, i played it for a Long time and never once finished a campaign (Vanilla) played a lot of mods, it will take Westores TW release to get me back into it
2. Rome - I could have played it longer than M2 but i dont have on steam so i don't have the time played. - Mostly play mods
3. Empire - My favorite in the series (Dont kill me) surprised i haven't played it more actually
4. Napoleon - Much more polished than Empire but lacks the huge Map of Empire and the feel empire gives me
5. Shogun 2 - only have Fall of the samurai and still have not played more than 2 hours, i just can get into the Japanese history/culture.
I predict Rome 2 will dwarf all the rest of these .. i hope im right. ... Oh and BTW i never had Shogun 1 or Med 1 so thats why they are not there

1.M2tw-it has a lot of mods..and i tried all of them
2.RTW-my 1st total war game..many mods too
3.Empire-i conquered all the map with england..probably that's why(150h)
4.Shogun 2-i finished 3 campaings..after..i got bored(100h)
5.Napoleon-no many mods..just minor ones..1-2 campaings , not finished , but bored and also the map is tiny(~60h)

1) M2TW: by far because of the mods (mostly modding myself). (no steam version)
2) RTW: again because of mods (mostly modding myself). (no steam version)
3) ETW:The scale was big, which I liked, but I didn't finish it because it became too goofy (United Province conquering Europe: WTF?) and too easy to expand.
4) NTW: I liked the battles and units, but the campaign map was just BLOODY AWFUL! I'm not just talking about the amount of provinces, but also their shapes and everything. I'm quite knowledgeable about the European political map and geography and the NTW map was like blasphemy. ETW also had similar issues, but landmasses were also smaller so compromises had to be made and I accepted it.
5) S2TW: Got bored quickly. Just more of the same.

1. Rome: Total War - I love the era, mods, and it runs the best on my computer.
2. Medieval II Total War - same as first, but I prefer ancient setting to medieval. I'm sure that when EBII comes out, M2TW will top Rome.
3. Empire Total War - was a bit a letdown to be completely honest. Though Darth Mod makes it from a average to pretty good.
4. Napoleon Total War - the limited scope makes the replayability pretty low. Only 5 factions. I know there are mods, but I never managed to install them correctly. Might retry it once my HDD isnt full.
5. Shogun:Total War - was pretty fun for a 12 (?) year old game. I only finished 1 campaign and I dont think I will replay it anytime soon.
6. Medieval: Total War - I could never get into it, despite playing Shogun first. Dont see the point in playing it when you have a much better alternative (M2TW). Sorry for those who like it, just my opinion.

Medieval 1 - being 11 years old when it came out I had endless time to play it.

Second would be Empire - I have logged 225 hours on Steam on that one!

2.RTW - My first Total war game so I played it quite a bit
3.M2TW - I have never finished a campaign on it.
4.Napoleon (90 hours) - I felt it was too similar to Empire and its playability ran out quickly
5.Shogun II (10 hours) - I just couldn't get into it

1. Empire (310 hours according to Steam. I only ever seem to play as Britain, so if I would branch out more it would be double this, I'm sure! )
2. Rome (estimating about 250+ hours)
3. MTW2 (estimating about 230/240+ hours)
4. Napoleon Total War (128 hours according to Steam. Again, as with Empire, I only ever seem to play as one faction (France)......have my eyes on an Austrian campaign though )
5. Shogun II (10 hours according to Steam....just can't seem to hold down a campaign)
6. MTW1 (estimating about 1 or 2 hours, but I've only recently purchased it and already prefer it LOADS to Shogun II, so this should surpass it soon )

Medieval Total War even though it is 11 years old by now is one of the most atmospheric of all the Total War games. I also love the fact they give you the option to play an Early, Middle, and Late campaign; so for instance if you prefer the age of plate armoured knights, pikes and gunpowder to Dark Age levies, you can start right up with a late campaign. I wish Medieval II had returned this feature.

Great idea for a thread. Im going to guess Rome and Medieval II because of the mods. Rome was my first and I started playing when I was 7, but I only started playing mods with Medieval II, and later went back to Rome. However, I hadn't played much of either until recently. Unfortunately, Steam says I wasted 110 hours on ETW, but thats probably just mostly load times from when it was unplayable. Napoleon is actually better, but I couldn't get into a campaign. It just felt too difficult after the cakewalk of Empire, and I have only 34 hrs on it. I finally got Shogun II last month and its my favorite since Medieval II . I have just over what I have in Napoleon, with 35 hours.

Rome: 2 hours a week for 3 years. first strategy game i ever played will always remain my most beloved.
S2tw:The most polished and greatest TW yet.

Etw:not really my thing.
Mtw: love the atmosphere but it is too old for my taste.
