System Requirements

Not that long ago I noticed that the recommended requirements for M2TW is 1.8 Ghz processor. I got a 1.6 Ghz pro on a laptop, I bought a 2 Ghz one (exact). I re-checked the requirements yesterday and got info that the requirements are now 2.4 GHZ!!!!!!!!!!

The rest of my specs are:
Memory- 2048 Mb, frequency 266 Mhz #1, 333 Mhz 2# (Each RAM holds 1Gb)
Graphics- Mobile Intel (R) Express Chipset Family, size 224 MBytes
The current processor is Intel Core Duo T2050, 1.6 Ghz
The processor I am getting in Tuesday next week is T2500 2 Ghz.

I just want an opinion, with the new processor would my specs matchup to standard and hopefully speed up the game so it runs smoothly? Everyone tells me to buy a new PC, instead of upgrading components but I can't afford a new PC at the moment.

I'd need to see your dxdiag to be sure but gut check says save your money. If it does play, it will be badly.

For total War games this site is not all that reliable. Blame CA for not keeping the games' specs up to date there.

Go to the start menu, and search "dxdiag" (no quotations). That is what he wants

Just one more question, would updated versions of DirectX improve game speed do you think?

Low settings, small unit sizes and don't expect battles. If you can squeeze anymore out of it, be happy.

I got graphics settings set to the lowest. Running Mod's like SS and OiM2 is a massive issue. When it comes to battle, I figured out a simple trick to make them run smooth not that long ago. I am basically changing the camera to face the battlefield straight upside down, this makes a massive difference, but again it is not perfect because that way I do not see every single unit and can;t manage the battlefield. When it comes to a better play in campaign maps I know for a fact to avoid factions like; Russia, Cuman Empire or any middle east European.

Will the newest version of directx get me better performance (in game).

No directx update will fix this. This computer is at least five years old. The only way to get what you want would be to buy a new computer with a dedicated graphics card made for 3D gaming. Most of these are custom builds, not something you pick up cheap at Wal-Mart.

Thank you, at least I know what to look for. The PC I want to get has this graphics card :AMD Radeon HD 7770 (clock speed 1 Ghz, WHAT A MONSTER)

I'm not an expert IT techie but I know for sure these specs are more than enough for M2TW and Shogun. Wasn't sure about Rome, so I checked the processors made last year and the predictions for this year and the ones that are already out there are no worst than the one shown
