Symbol on battle screen

I have looked around a bit but can't find what the symbol with cross swords superimposed by a lock means. It doesn't appear in the game manual. Mind the way the publishers have water marked Sega over the pages it doesn't help read it.

The lock and crossed swords mean that the selected unit is only capable of melee, not ranged attack. It is displayed for units that run out of ammo, artillery unit in which the cannons have been destroyed or any other unit that is either permanently or temporarily is unable to conduct a ranged attack.
