After playing the saxson, I just started a ERE campaing. I can easily imagine there are many different ways to play ERE, and I was wondering if somebody could point me to a walkthrough or strategy guide to compare notes.
Thanks.

well, ive been having tons of fun in meh h/vh ERE campy. i just wiped out the sassinids (boy was that a fight) and am consolodating to fight the WRE. here is a few tips.
ride your taxes hard! the whole foundation of your empire is your economy. if you are conisitently not making money, you might as well give up.
dont forget to destroy all those stupid pagan temples and replace them with good old churches in the first turn. all of them! (well, most)
plumbers rule!! and by plumbers, i mean plumbiatrii. ionno if other people like them as much as i do, but i just think they are the coolest thing before sliced bread. :p
umm.... keep an eye on your upkeep. i didnt do this in the very beginning, just built the best troops i could afford everywhere. Then i noticed that comiteses have nearly 400 upkeep! *heart stops* limitii are only 170. definatly important. At this time in my campaign, im doing the long work af re-organising my troops so that im not wasting half my treasury. :p
hmm.... those stupid hordes are a real pain in the arse. i have a bunch of assasins preying on them atm. i ended up pulling out of the provence west of constaninople, and reformin my troops there to fight of those stupid huns. if you get mixed with them, use lots of forts! block off that river so the have to seige to get past. often times they'll just go around and end up running into some other person to kill. make sure you throw in legio lancii with your comitatenses, i forgot that the first time and lost a lots of troops.
dont expand very much in the western part of your empire until you have the sassies put down and making you money in your mines.stupid sassies......
but yeah, basically its a war of attrition. if you can keep your troops funded and retrained and all that, you'll own everything. if you go red..... start praying.
if anyone thinks that i give stupid tips, please correct me., i mean, ive only been playing this for a month now.![]()

28.7% of all statistics are made up. Really!
Death is the biggest inconvenience of them all.
and on that note, have a nice day.
Lixa,
Thanks, your strategy is in line with what I've been doing so far. I'm converting - since turn one - everybody in my empire to Christianity and started with a focus on economy (building harbours, mines and bringing expensive units to border of the empire, whilst replacing them in the cities with cheaper units).
"Sassies" are my current target. You confirmed however that I need to get ready for a invasion of a Horde or two in the near term. I like your tactic of fending them of at bridges.
I'll keep you updated on further progress.
