I've been playing TATW for a couple of weeks now, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it as a less complex, but by no means easier, alternative to Stainless Steel.
The mod runs great except for one very annoying issue: Three times now, I've run into "bugged" battles, that I just can't seem to finish without getting a CTD. These are the only CTDs I've gotten, and they seem to have a few things in common:
1. They only happen when fighting an enemy that has reinforcements.
2. They seem to happen only when fighting in hilly/mountainous terrain (in no instances have the incoming reinforcements been blocked by terrain, so that can't be the issue)
3. They seem to happen independent of the size of armies involved.
What happens is this: I can set up the battle just fine, and the first reinforcements arrive with no problems. Then after 1 - 2 minutes, just as the last reinforcements enter the map, I get a sudden
CTD with message of an unspecified error. This happens the same way over and over again and seems impervious to all common fixes. The first two times I encountered this problem, I was able to simply avoid the battle altogether, but now I face a situation, where my army is trapped in a choke point and is more or less forced to attack an army that threatens my capital, so I really have to solve this issue.
Does anyone know a fix for this problem? I'm pretty sure, it's got nothing to do with the following:
- It's not a RAM problem or otherwise overstressing my system. With 8gigs of RAM and a quad-core processor, I'm able to run the largest battles in SS with permantent arrows and all the other bells and whistles with no dip in framerate.
- It's not a driver issue. I've updated my drivers yesterday, and the problem persist.
- It's not a general problem with reinforcements. I've played much larger reinforcement battles with no issue in the same campaign.
- It's not a conflict with another mod. I run TATW vanilla from a completely clean install of M2TW.
Any help would be much appreciated.
