    Default Vanilla MTW2 Version?

So, I just found out about this awesome looking mod, and tried to install MTW2 on my new computer so I could try it out. It worked fine at first, when I downloaded it just the basic campaign, I ran it, played a bit of a campaign and a few battles to make sure it worked, and everything was going fine. But when I tried to install Kingdoms, I kept getting errors, because my new system is Windows 8.
So my question is, is there any way available to a person with some basic modding knowledge, to make the game work without having Kingdoms installed?
If not, I may try installing it while in compatibility mode, and see if that works, but since this game is the only reason I want to re-install it, I don't want to waste the time and space on my computer if there is another way.

You shouldn't actually need to have it installed, just put the kingdoms CD in your drive, open the folder and make a search for "kingdoms.exe" copy/paste it into Program Files/SEGA/Medieval II Total War or wherever you have your M2TW installed. Then mods should run just fine.
Under the patronage of Finlander. Once patron to someone, no longer.
    Content's well good, innit.

    Moved to Tech Help section.

I'm pretty sure that won't work. TATW does not completely replace every single one of Kingdoms files, so it needs to refer back to those vanilla files it does not replace.

@RandomShred: What version do you have? Steam, Amazon, or some other version?

I have the Total War Battle Pack, that came with RTW, BI, MTW2, and Kingdoms. No Steam or anything like that, I purchased the actual cd's, because I am old-fashioned like that, haha. Also, thanks for moving the topic. I meant to post it in Tech Help, but I must not have, by accident.

Hmm, have a look at this thread. Pay special attention to the part about UAC.
