Rome Total War film

I wanted to let you guys know that a couple of buddies of mine, and myself just finished making a 25 minute long non-profit film concerning the Roman tragedy in the Teutoburg forest. The name of the film is "Legiones Redde," and has a lot of footage and music from Rome Total War, as well as real actors. Nice movie but could you guys make some better armors and costumes, I'm working on a home video now about Romans in germania and my costumes are great, !from the segmenta (lether) painted metalic to the barbarian dirty furs! Would be cool if you guys could make an other one about rome or simply modify your costumes !

Thanks. Yeah, I wish we had the actual replicas, we were looking at them once, but they cost a lot, and we only had about $100 to pull off this film. It would have been awesome though had we had the actual bear skins and the breastplates and whatnot, along with some re-enactors, though none live close to where we live. They all live thousands of miles from where we are (in a desert, ironic that we do a film about a battle in the forest).

Thats cool that you're doing a movie about the Romans in germania. One of the reasons why did this movie was because there are very few films that show the romans fighting in the north, Gladiator being one of the only few we could think of. So thats cool that you're doing another film about the Romans in the north.

I'm watching it right now, and it's pretty good. The music is great thats for sure, decent acting but the costums are a bit weak.

And Simon, please let us know when you finish that film.

My small home movie will simply be a battle with dirt and blood, It will be finished in less that a year but not close thank you !

For a home video, really good, a few suggestions. Up the sound quality when people are talking, and make the costumes better, otherwise great home video.

you ought to be very careful about releasing something into the publicv domain that uses copyrighted material (i.e. gladiator soundtrack). its ok for private use, and for among friends... but the minute you release it online, you can find yourself in trouble if the reocrd company ever see it.

We've done some careful research on that, and it falls under the "fair use" doctrine or whatever it was called (my friends who's in pre-law looked it up). But also, as long as we don't let people download it, it's alright. If we allow downloading of the file, yeah, then they'll get in our case. But if we stream it, its fine. The thing is, there are tons and millions of videos on myspace, freevideoblog, youtube, and other servers that use material such as film soundtracks, and even film clips. These are usually called "fanfilms" as it is fans who make these productions. So we've also registered our film on www.fanfilms.net. Also, even if the record company decided to crack down on these films, they wouldn't seek out the millions of people who don't have any money (like us), they would sue myspace, vidiac.com, youtube, you get the idea

As to the pic of "Varus fighting back one of the Celts," idk. It is the battle of the Teutoburg Forest, but I'm not the webmaster. I just directed the movie. I'll talk to him about that.
