I'm glade to announce the new 300 movie witch take's place in greece !!Based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, 300 is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy, drawing a line in the sand for democracy. The film brings Miller’s (Sin City) acclaimed graphic novel to life by combining live action with virtual backgrounds that capture his distinct vision of this ancient historic tale.

The creative behind-the-scenes team is led by director of photography Larry Fong, production designer James Bissell, editor Bill Hoy and costume designer Michael Wilkinson. I would of have rather seen "Gates of Fire" made into a movie.

we had a thread on this at the RTR forums, and its gonna be bad, go look at the IMDB sp? forums, on the cast it says centurions, need I say more, on the RTR forums, we had an absolute ball with it, chuck norris, brad pitt and mr T plus 50 cent would take on and whip the persians

but that centurion does mess things up, I will watch it but historically its messed up, watrch the trailor, the lightly armoured persians have more armour than the heavy armoured spartans, no phalanx, instead we have kung fu manouvers with the spartans fighting in the middle of a million persians

Gates of Fire was supposed to be made into a movie. Michael Mann was supposed to make it, George Clooney cast as Leonidas.
It'd at least be a better source for a script than a comic book.

Micheal Mann + Clooney would have been good. But for 300, well, I loved the comic. I'll go see the movie, keeping in mind that it will be a movie with no intention whatsoever of giving a realistic account of the story, and so should you .

looks bad

too bad for Gerard Butler, who has been in so many low budget historical movies. He would be Great Hanibal, looking at his bearded look. Much closer to the actual Hanibal than Vin Diesel.

300 is based off of a Frank Miller comic (since I am not geeky enough to say 'Graphic Novel'). It's going to be Sin City with spears, they've even said they weren't trying to go with historical accuracy. I, personally, can't wait for it.



Plus, I thought DotD was the ****.

well i was looking forward to this when i heard it was in development but having seen the spartans in capes and nappies and helmets im staying well clear of this impending disaster

this 300 movie makes me think of gays for some reason. weird.

I know damn well this film will be an utter disapointment.

just why do you complain it will be hollywood-ised ? did you complain Sin City was Hollywood-ised ? (once again, it is a COMIC BOOk adaptation, not an historical movie...)

Meh, looks low-budget. Has the potential to be a terrific movie of course, though historical movies of this vein often leave some to be desired.
