    Default Reinforcements CTD

    Hey guys, I'm having a pretty serious problem that I would appreciate some help with. I'm roughly 50 turns into an Eriador campaign (no submods) and I'm at a point where I need to fight an enemy army that has a small army of reinforcements immediately adjacent to it on the campaign map. Unfortunately, every time I try to fight the battle, the game crashes as soon as the enemy reinforcements enter the battlefield (roughly 15 seconds after the battle starts). I searched for the problem already and found a couple of possible solutions. One was to delete the desc_geography files and another was to turn off daylights saving time on my computer. I tried both and neither worked. Another possible solution that I saw in my searches was to download the RB battle AI. I really, really don't want to do this due to the complexities of installation and other game stability issues that I saw reported in the RB AI thread. Plus, I mean, I really like the vanilla TATW BAI and I don't think I should have to change it just to fix a CTD bug.

    So is there some other way to fix the reinforcements CTD issue? I love TATW but I just can't see myself continuing to play if it means that I'll never be able to play campaign map battles against enemies with reinforcements.

    Use auto_win cheat..

    Thats an interesting idea that I hadn't thought of. I'll go ahead and do it for this particular battle and keep a pre-battle save as well. Still, I would rather not have to cheat if these CTD issues are going to be reoccuring. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have an idea on something that I can do to fix the CTDs?

    The cause of this crash is the current battle AI, it simply does not know how to deal with reinforcements so it often crashes.

    The only solution I have found is changing my battle AI. I currently use MOS which automatically installs the ReallyBadAI submod.
    I advice you to switch over to MOS. Sadly this is not savegame compatible (you won't be able to continue your current campaign).

    You can upgrade current Battle AI with overwriting your campaign_script file with this one here. And, as Wizad said, this is not savegame compatible, you will have to start a new campaign in order to make these changes work.. ( and, you don`t have to reinstall TATW as I said to that other TWC member in my post there, he already screwed up things so had to reinstall ).

    Or, don`t upgrade anything, continue your campaign and avoid battles which include reinforcements on either sides.

    Thanks for the help. I've decided to play MOS, so I guess that resolves this issue.
