Default How to Run Medieval Total War on Windows 7 64bit

Hello guys, basically what topic asks.

Loved this game, but I am unable to play for a long time now, last time I have tried it was around 3-4 years ago. And it was incompatible with new systems and video card drivers. I remember managing to install it + Viking Invasion but when you get to the actual game, there were bugs as an example when you give orders, units run in other direction e.t.c.

In any case, how do you guys play it? Is there some fix or patch? or a workaround maybe?

    Please share!

    P.S. I am trying to run it on this rig: win 7 64bit, 16gbram, i7 3200, gtx 680

I have the gold edition which solves some bugs, but still may crash in windows 7. What I do is that I run it in windows XP compatibility mode and that minimizes the issues.

    Try it out!

Well... You should be able to run raw MTW somehow - but in my experience it is unstable and crashes a lot. Others claim "having no problems at all" running MTW on W7 - in contrast to my own experiences. You also have the alternative of MTW-Redux - which is fully W7-compatible and typically runs very well on it, and on V.1.1- and V.2.01-engines alike. With Redux, I have a very stable game, few crashes and problems - especially so upon V.2.01-engines. That's my experience so far on this stuff. It all basically boils down to; take your chances with MTW or go straight for Redux and little fuss.

    Your call...
