I wasnt aware the barbarians were cultured or had any sophistication worthy of note. They should be excluded from this poll. As for italian its really just an extension of hellienistic.

Why theses tribes are even playable instead of major powers like the Seleucids is unfathomable. I for one will be destroying these shirtless monkey tribes at the first available opportunity removing them from the game permanently.

ROmans didn't copy Celtic design, they adopted them and improved them , but they did the same with any other culture around , inlcuding italian culltures ...
rome was a small village over 7 hills , when they started expanding they took everything they had around that worked and improved it ...
As for Chainmail is not a celtic invention , it was a multicultural invention that was implemented in many cultures .

No, it was invented by Celtic peoples 5th or 4th century BC. Remember, Celts were pretty live pretty much everywhere in Europe. Apparently there are Etruscan finds but Etruscans did have contact with Celts as did Greeks and Latins. Some Hellenistic soldiers even wore mail. The invention spread all the way to Japan apparently.

I was mostly joking i am of Celtic descent also. But the barbarians in this period were nothing compared to say the greeks and romans. I would however love a dark age expansion. As the barbarians at this point were somewhat civilized and their kingdoms eventually developed into the nations we know today.

Are you still joking? I hope you're not imagining the tribes of Germania and the British Isle as bellowing mongrels. True, they didn't have the scientific, philosophical and technological advances of Rome or Carthage, but after the tribes of Germania and Britain united under a single banner, they were more than a worthy opponent for Rome, especially since the asymmetric warfare they employed was so strange to the Roman legions (i.e Teutoburg forest).
