Can't play Kingdoms after 1.5 patch update. (GOLD)

Hey,

Picked up the gold edition of this game recently, i installed it and everything works fine,

Went to install the 1.5 patch so online play and it installed correctly also, tho i then found i could not play the kingdoms add on,

When i open one to play it says "wrong disc inserted" Please inset the original "Med2gold" cd/dvd, none of the cds/dvd i have will work,

Anyone got a solution for this? Also while it can run standard game fine, when i come back out from playing after updating to 1.5, it says the patch may not installed correctly please re-install. Which is strange as it waits till after i have played for it to say this,

I got my copy on play.com and unsure of the version its in english so i assume its the UK release, i downloaded the UK gold 1.5 patch from posted in this forum, Anyone got any idea's as to what's goin on here? (i can post a pic of the version if thats any help)

Also, when i tried to play online with either patch i get the "invalid user email" and cant get in, i made an account with IGN since gamespy is no longer working, as suggested but dosent seem to be working.

Anyway any help with this would be much appreciated,

Hey,

i have the same problem. At the moment i do a complete new install of M2TW, after disabling UAC and delete that folder in c:\User\[your computer Name or username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Medieval2TotalWar folder. I had the Problem that i didnt found that virtual store folder, because it didnt exist on my computer.

The second thing is, that i dont install the game to ProgrammeFiles(x86) again. I hope it will work. My Gold edition is from Green Pepper with all addons.

You could do the same thing if you want.

Have you disable the UAC and installed outside Program Files (x86)? It will end many problems.

I know nothing about this unless you have Hamachi installed. If so for the old Gamespy, you had to uninstall Hamachi.

I think you have got the patch version wrong. The UK or US Gold version patch will not work with downloadable version or Standard UKFRGXXX whatever version. They use different executable. If you got from play.com (which I assume a D2D downloadable version) then I guess you're out of luck because if I'm not mistaken there's no patch 1.5 created for that. You'll probably have to stick with 1.4

No it not a direct to drive version, i have the hard copy here beside me lol, in the inlay sheet is in russian/polish(im not entirely sure which one) and english, and it installs in english, and was bought from a UK source, so i presume its a UK copy, the UAC isnt a problem as i have already had that disabled in general, is there any way of figuring out which patch it needs by the exe itself then?

For what's listed Gold, I'd say "UK".

It would be a pain but you could do a clean install and try each one until the right one clicks.

This is where i bought mine from, location of seller says greece, so any idea's as to what version this could be then?

I didn't see anything saying Greece but the Delivery and Returns tab had UK all over it.

Seller location is greece, would explain the language on the inlay as well i guess, reinstalled into another place other then program files, still no luck, i'll try the US update

US patch surely will not work. There should be 2 version for EUR which is UK Gold or ENFR or something.

That is indeed where i bought it from, tried the suggested patch and still the same error,

I have 2 cd's but neither work. Unsure if there's any difference between them.

It's getting down to just buy from Steam and I have a certain dislike for cloud computing in any form.

Was it wrapped in the original cellophane? If not, consider returning it for a refund.

That's what i've been trying to avoid :/, it did come in a cellophane unfortunately.

No patch seems to work anyway, if their any point trying the other EU ones, germany/spain etc? im downloading the EU patch to have a go, may even do the D2D patch at this stage

Could it be anything to do with the drive im installing it on, i have a D drive for games only, so no games go to my C?

I've had the game on D: drive before with no problems. I'm out of ideas but return for refund.
