Right, so for a bit more roleplay, we can do this via aux characters in the Beyond the Realm sub-forum. We can play out historical Syrian/Iraqi leaders and their factions, either against each other (one of the most common things in this part of the world at this time is scheming and fighting between the rulers of various cities) or fighting against the Franks, depending on what alliances/enimities emerge in the first week or so in game. It will be separate from the main game, in terms of the effects of the rp, so it's just a bit of fun. If stuff gets slow and leaders are reluctant to do anything interesting (read, either scheme/fight against each other, or fight against the Franks) other Muslim lords or/and the Franks will come to you!
Finally, to avoid arguing about rules and things like that, I am going to start it immediately, so anybody can just claim a character in this thread, and dive right into the action.
Up for grabs we have:
Toghtekin of Damascus (5000 soldiers)
Ridwan of Aleppo (5000 soldiers)
Kherboga of Mosul (5000 soldiers)
-Plus Zengi (optional), a young man in the service of Kherboga, soon to become one of the most influential men in history
other positions subordinate to these leaders to be created by those who play said leaders
-ideas:
qadi (sort of a judge and community leader),
mamluk (literally slave, often appointed to high positions such as commander, based on talent),
imam (religious leader, can preach and have influence over the masses)
If we get the Franks involved, I will play them, along with others who so wish to be any of the other Frankish leaders. If the mods (Gainsey) are alright with it, they will be doing the rolls. If not, I will not play a full time character and will do rolls etc, seeing as it's not part of the main game.
So if you're interested, claim/register your character here, and pop off to Beyond the Realm to do the home thread (either Damascus, Aleppo, or Mosul)
Feel free to add any suggestions.
Cheers!
