Default [WIP] Osman's Dream (Player's Decision)

    Hello all,

The rule set and other game stuff is almost 90% complete. There are of course a few things that needs to be decided. This poll is about one such thing about characters.

Currently, the rules about characters are:

    - Two main characters per player. This is to give room for more creativity in both characters and roleplay. And since there are two, no need to have any superhero characters.

    - Links to historical houses. Every character is allowed a link to any historical character (before the time period.) That is, players can easily make a character of theirs claiming relation to any old houses like Komnenos, Osmanli etc. Creative license is encouraged as long as it does not get silly.

    - Player shared character houses. This is kind of hard to define in a single word. In this rule, players can have their character a relation to another player's character. This will require the permission of the player having the head of house character. For instance, LM's character is of house A, then other players who want a character of their linked to the house will have to ask LM about it first.

But the big question I am confused at is allowing players to play actual historical characters. This can bring it's own advantages and disadvantages. I've added a poll for a week. Feedback, suggestions, and discussions welcome.

There is never the words "too many" for RPG proposal, Ace. In fact, there is never enough.

Seeing as this RPG has been in the making for a long time, it has its right to be known.

Given that there are 5 spaces, 2 of which are filled with active rpgs, then yes there can be too many proposals. Literally, more proposals than space for them to go. That's pretty much the definition of too many proposals.

Sure it has rights though, all the games and proposals do.

As far as this proposal is concerned, I don't see the point of rules 2 and 3. They're things that happen in pretty much every other historical rpgs.

Yes, let's just go and **** on everyone else's ideas because someone didn't get their way.
Very mature, as you seem very confident about.

There is one active game and one clinging to a liferaft that will quickly deflate if itsplayers dont drop their pissy, entitled attitudes.

I am not doing anything like that (heck, my post even defended this proposal). Or is the general policy of the RPG forum now that criticism isn't allowed? My points remain valid, and there's nothing immature about reasoned criticism (not that I ever made any claim about my own maturity in either of those posts). It's up to the game creator to either dispute or ignore them, either way doesn't bother me.

And the off topic discussion ends here. Focus on the OP and be productive, please.

Next time some GSTK player decides to come and **** on new proposals in a pathetic attempt to save their own game I'll ask for a forumban for a period of no less than a week. If you care so much about it you'd get off your ass, stop writing whiny little letters, and make a viable proposal. Put the god damned work in and maybe you can save GSTK.

The fact that you've managed to balloon 8 players into a game and intensely try to save it after the fact that we decided to close it for it remaining dormant for months after discovering the game was condemned is hardly a sign of longevity.

I thought we had reached an understanding but clearly I misjudged just how juvenile a response you can muster.

Well, as a matter of fact, it once did get silly. A character with ancient Egyptian-Roman-Byzantine-Frankish-German lineage. LM cantell you the fun details.

No, I mean that he wanted to conquer Bursa before he died but he couldn't. I didn't really get the Hadith reference from the title.

The dream refers to this one.

Ah, of course. I wonder if I could be allowed to play Ak Shamsaddin for Mehmed II's reign.

    err... what?

As the poll results suggest, I will open a thread for claiming historical characters just before the proposal is launched officially. If a character is claimed, I'd suggest you to contact the player who got that character and work out to make your character as of the same house, i.e. a relative.
