    They are "good".

    1. The game will only use 4gb of ram including graphics. XP based game with the 32bit ceiling. No more.
    2. Good graphics card.
    3. The cpu is bottlenecking the gpu big time.
    4. Everything about the game goes through one core of your cpu including the proverbial kitchen sink before your gpu sees the first byte of graphics. One-core, XP thinking company.

    You have three choices:
    1. Get an aftermarket cooler , overclock your cpu, and hope you don't blow the board, or
    2. Plan on investing in a Ivybridge i5 and board that you can overclock with an aftermarket cooler and try to break 4.6 GHz, or
    3. Lower graphics settings to an acceptable framerate for you and live with it.

There is unfortunately no fourth choice.

You can play on medium but not with things like shadows, particle effects, grass and buildings on high, etc.

On medium, keep lowering the eyecandy until either the lag disappears or the framerate comes up to suit you.

I read somewhere a few years ago on another forum, game mode = low resolution and minimum eyecandy.

Shogun2 is better optimized. Have you checked the gfx.log.txt in the Shogun2\logs folder to see if the graphics have been turned down?

Gogle it.I tried it to bump my Phenom II 940 a notch with my stock cooler and my cpu temps jumped 20C on Medieval2.

It's hidden in users\username\appdata\the creative assembly\ shogun2\logs. You have to unhide all, files, folders, and drives to get there after logging in as Administrator.

Odds are it did change your settings for everything. Set them back to default.
