cant start campaign

Im using windows 7 and have steam, im using a program that puts stainless steel in the options of the kingdoms launcher, it works fine until i try to start a campaign, i choose my campaign and the options like difficulty but when i click start it just brings me back to my previous screen and cannot try again unless i go all the way back to the main menu first, any ideas on whats wrong? and please dont tell me to reinstall because i have done that many times and it fixes nothing.

same issue but with windows 8 lol... I can play custom games, which are awesome, bug not the campaign
