Default 'joined together' - Rome Total War

Much like Hearts of Iron II Doomsday, where the expansion extended the timeline of the original game, does anyone think it's possible to 'join' the original RTW and Barbarian invasion?

I suppose it'll have to be played as a unified Rome, and various can happen triggered by conquering provinces. E.g. once you've reached the scope of the original empire, the empire will split and you'll be given a choice of which to lead.

Horde factions can join the game through events, and rebellion events mean existing factions can be replaced by the new ones in Barbarian invasion.

Well you can make game longer, very simply by changing end date in descr_strat, and you could increase time scales / complexity of building queues so later units only reach game later or possibly adapt marian reforms event to trigger later units.

But introducing new factions would be problematic - both games are stuck with limit of 21 factions including rebels. So to reserve some to emerge later you'd need to start with less - so probably need smaller world area covered by map?!

Sound like you need to investigate what can be done with scripting which unfortunately I don't understand!
