Default Announcement: RPG Closings and Pending Closures

After some debate and discussion among the Shed Members, we have come to a decision on roleplays that shall be closed and have a pending status of closure. This may upset community members, but make note that those being closed are for good reason and judgment.

The following are to be closed soon:

Senatus et Populosque Romanus: requested to be closed by Pontifex Maximus for lack of activity and interest.
    There and Back Again:
requested to be closed by Pontifex Maximus and Lucius Malfoy for lack of activity and interest.
God Save the King: This is for a number of reasons. When the Shed was first formed and status reports were made, Raglan fervently wanted GSTK to be closed for similar reasons that we are deciding to close it now. However, he decided to give the rpg one more chance with the recent revival and it was granted. Due to the lack of activity and small playerbase, the Shed has decided to close this long standing roleplay because oflack of interest by majority of the community, smallest playerbase in the current set of active rpgs, and lack of viability. With inactivity down to 4 - 5 players and majority of the threads being unused, we feel this is the best decision that can be made. We truly hate to do this, but we need to make room for new ideas (Note: GSTK members may make a new proposal for another medieval England. However, we ask that there be a period of time before a new proposal be made involving this setting).

The above settings are being closed, overall, due to a lack of interest, little to no playerbase over a period of time and lack of viability.

The following rpg(s) are on pending closure:
    Age of the Cataclysm
: This rpg has experienced a recent lack of player activity and has now the pending closure status. We ask that the moderator(s) pm a local Shed member to decide on whether or not to close to the rpg or to give it another chance.

The Shed thanks you for your cooperation. We ask that you be considerate to our decisions here mainly due to the fact of opening space for new proposals that are in the works. They shall be given their chance to thrive or fail just like all other roleplays before them.

On a brighter side, this means more fresh RPGs, and a good chance to be given a chance.

And although we will have considerably more space now, I ask that it is requested and used judiciously. For instance, we would not begrudge your requests for sub-forums and like, but we will need to see a good reason for their presence. That is, plan and request sub-forums that you are sure you absolutely need and will be used.

I understand you want it to continue, LW. But you only have a playerbase of 4 - 5 members compared to the original 20 or so who joined at the beginning of the restart. I know its been the longest standing roleplay, but its setting has been reused over and over again. Its just time for GSTK to be archived and given a break. Just like Roman setting rpgs. Its been done too much and there isn't much hype left for it.

We are not reconsidering though. These are final decisions, except for AotC.

It's not really broken. True there's a slow rate of roleplay at the moment but stuff is happening slowly but surely. It would be nicer for them to try and fix stuff like getting rid of the moderators who signed up at the start but don't even play or visit the forum to do their job anymore. Gainsey and LW or Gandalf would probably be good if they are willing.

"4-5 players" This claim also bugs me. Not including inactive players (Raglan, Stildawn, Narf, and a few others who no longer post) there are:
    Me
    Phyrrus
    Ace
    Gandalf
    Gainsey
    LW
    warheadsteel7
    Dead Sun

If it has to go ahead though, will the archives be kept, or just the entire sub-forum deleted? I'd quite like to keep a lot of the old stuff as there is some truly brilliant stuff in there.

I am not sure what will be deleted or how it will be archived, my guess is what we will archive all the threads and use the sub-forum for another rp. Basically recycle it for another use. Its what we did for TRS, the Kingdom of Jerusalem rpg and later the Senatus rp. We just cycled the forum so that way we didn't have to archive the entire forum. It would be a pain to have GSTK sub-forum archived with all the topics and posts it has.

That's alright then. It would still be nice if the decision would be reconsidered though, maybe with the addition of gaining some input from the community.

I can understand your wish for a reconsideration, but like Roman setting rpgs, Medieval England has been overdone. I wish it could be reconsidered, but this has been an ongoing debate and discussion since the Shed team was formed and GSTK was given another restart. You can do another proposal for a medieval rpg if you want at a later time. Its just that the hype for this particular setting is not there.

And with all the proposals and workings I am aware of, I want those to be given a chance now.

Massive surprise there, that people who either signed up but didn't enjoy the game so quit or just didn't want to join at all think that it's been overdone.

You do understand that there is a quota for this? Although we have a very supportive admin, Poach, we cannot just allow every game with any number of sub-forums. This is something which I never got the answer for. At the restart, I had asked why so many sub-forums were required, but the question was simply ignored. My simple advice would be to give it a break, and then after some time, start again with new forums and stuff.

And also, Age of Cataclysm is also to be closed, as per Adamat's request. Adamat is the head mod of the game.

This is false. KOVAV is the head mod but he had to leave for some RL reasons.

But Adamat is in charge in the absence, the way I see it. If that is not the case, then you'll have to speak to Adamat about which moderator there is in charge.

Look, fellas. The decision has been made to pull the plug on the four listed rpgs. This has been long in debate and we are gonna fall through with it. Room needs to be opened up for these new proposals to be given a chance. GSTK was a long debate, but it came down to the decision of closing it. I know you don't want this, but right now, there is not a lot of hype for it. Maybe, at a later time, you guys can do a proposal for the setting after the rpg has been given a break.

All of your work is gonna be archived in the sub-forum. The forum is just gonna be reused by another roleplay is all. So all your work is gonna still be where it was.

I just don't like a game that's running fine being closed down by a group of people who don't play it. You claim it's so other proposals get a chance but they only sprung up after the decision was announced to close GSTK, and big surprise the proposals are ones by the "Shed team" and their mates. These new rpgs are also pretty much guaranteed to last a few months if that. Rule Britannia will probably be an overcomplicated clone of Major's failed rpg from the same period, the Florence one might be good but it will pretty much be GSTK in an Italian setting, and the Lord of the Rings one just means there are now 2 proposals for a Middle Earth rpg, along with one that's failed and being closed down.

And now the advice is to accept the closure and then start again? What's the point of that? We have a reasonable player base and a good story going in game. If you want forum space why not just delete a sub-forum or three? We don't need the vaults for a start, or registration, or the kings court one. Plus the kingdom of england and the realm as well as beyond the realm and fields of battle could easily be merged.

Work with us here guys. It would be a shame if such a great game was closed down based on the uninformed opinions of a group of useless body of "gaming staff". Plus, it is pretty much overkill closing down every game except a Game of Thrones.
