Once the One Ring is lost, it has chances to appear in game after each battle, like other ancillaries, so you could need time to find it again in campaign.
If it never appears, then some trigger could be failing.

I l delete two files but the campaign again crash
hello all ,
a fix or a solution for Campaign CTD ???
I tried everything : 1° delete 3 files : preferences, Advice and Map.Idon't remember
2° Copy/paste to another Folder
3° Uninstall all ( Rome Total War, Alexander, LOTR 2.0, 3.0, delete all savegames and all files attached to LOTR taotal war
But it just crashed again and again ...
The most weird is that first it worked perfectly (let me say it's an amazing evolution since 2.0) and then after deleting old savegames it began to crash ... ( I don't know why I did this !!!! and of course I tried to replace these old savegames but it's crashing too)
So , is someone able to help me (us, lot of people have this problem as I see) ???
I wonder the same, because lately I can't participate in assistance battles either.
You already tested the solutions to all the known causes of crashes at start of campaign. All I can say is:
1- Verify that you delete the file "advice" from the right folder:
\alexander\lotrtw\preferences\advice
2- Verify that you tried to copy/paste the whole RTW to some place not protected by windows (no "my documents" nor "application data")
I'm sorry, I really do not know why many people are having similar problem, I do not know any other possible cause.
Just a question, when you deleted everything to do a fresh install of RTW did you:
a) delete the RTW folder (just to be sure, and much simpler than doing individual files) after uninstall
b) empty recycle bin and then restart your computer (some temporary files are used/stored by RTW)
c) re-install RTW, BI, and Alex
d) Run Alex to see if it works (check custom battle and start a campaign, maybe do a couple of moves to be sure)
e) Install LOTR with only the two most recent files (maybe with fresh downloads too just to be sure you installer isn't corrupted?)
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...W-3-0-RELEASED
f) Run newly installed LOTR and if it works at all, start by adjusting all your graphics settings to lowest with low screen resolution (v3.0 is slightly more demanding on system resources than 2.0 so if you have a less than excellent system that could potentially be causing the crash)
g) Another side note I thought of while writing the above, maybe check to see your direct-x and drivers are up to date?
ok , I don't know the reason but now it works !
so if it can help someone, i did this :
1) uninstall all : LOTRW 3.0, 2.0 , Alex and RTW.
2) Delete the folder The creative assembly
3) Restart Computer
4) Install RTW + Alexander
5) Check if it works
6) Install LoTr 2.0 , check if it works, launch a campaign
7) Install Lotr 3.0 and Copy/paste the creative assembly folder to the desktop
Now it's working!!! (note that I have already done the same and the game crashed... so my advice : don't give up
)
When I'm at the loading screen (Historical Battles) it always say missing this: data/models_bulding/offmap_village_dummy.cas and the battle just start like a normal battle, not like in the movie
There is an error in the texture of Bree militia that could cause crashes in battle against free-peoples. Until we can release a bugfix patch, this is the Solution:
1. Go into the folder "...\alexander\lotrtw\data\models_unit\textures" and find "zunit_bree_militia.TGA.dds" then make a copy.
2. Rename the copy of "zunit_bree_militia.TGA.dds" to "zunit_bree_townguard.TGA.dds".
(Thanks to CapnDan for pointing the fix)
CTD when starting new campaign.
Tried delete corrupt advice file fix-- no luck
The mod and patch were installed on a clean alexander install, but when I start the mod, "continue campaign" is available in the menu. I wonder if this is related to the problem.
I try uninstall everything, reboot and then re-install each component, with reboot in between. This will take a while =/
I was having CTD immediately after selecting a faction and clicking launch campaign, but custom battles worked fine. I collated all the advice in this thread that people have offered about this particular issue. Probably overkill, and not sure if all those reboots were necessary but it works now. Not sure what the actual problem was, or which step fixed it, but it works, (praise be unto Jesus/Muhammad/Moses)...If you are struggling with CTD don't give up, keep trying the mod is well worth it when it finally works. Thanks for advice guys.
Uninstall everything. uninstall 3.0 patch, unistall 2.0b, uninstall Alex, RTW, BI, other mods,
Delete any remaining "the creative assembly" folder
Empty recycly bin
Reboot
Reinstall RTW (close all programs)
Reboot
Re install Alex (close all programs)
Reboot
Reinstall lotrtw 2.0b (close all programs)
Reboot
Reinstall lotrtw 3.0 (close all programs)
Reboot
Copy"the creative assembly" folder to desktop, or a location of your choice outside of program files (takes time, many files)
Check read/write permissions of desktop verison. Enable read + write for your user account for this whole folder and all subfolders
Change target of lotrtw shortcut to desktop version, not program files version. Need to change 2 lines: "target" and "start in" (for me anyway..win 8)
Delete (from the desktop version) ...\alexader\lotrtw\pref\pref.txt
Delete (from the desktop version) ...\alexander\lotrtw\data\world\maps\cacmpaign\alexander\map.rwm
Delete (from the desktop version) ...\alexader\lotrtw\pref\advice.
Finally, pray to Jesus/Muhammad/Moses whilst Load a new campaign
I'm sorry to see many people with this problem to run the campaign. I still do not know if it is the same problem, or different issues that cause the same CTD at start of campaign.
I'm glad you finally solved it, and I thank you for the detailed procedure that worked for you.
If I have time this summer, I'll try to make a bugfix patch, and to repack the whole mod into one single package.

I honestly think it is windows user account permissions that is causing most of these problems. Least we forget, windows is designed by retards to be retarded, requiring users to regularly update to the most recent retarded release of windows.
I recall that EB gave detailed instructions about not installing into a protected folder like program files... so might not need a whole re patch, just a few added advice to the readme.txt ?

Ok, I should probably rather write this here. I am playing Hot Seat currently, and the ruins can be repaired, despite their description saying otherwise.
