Default ATG Greek General's Horse v1.0 -Released

The original Greek general's horse was unappealing and not worthy of a general, IMO. These horses were originally made to compliment my Greek General Mod; but I've decided to release them separately. This mod changes the textures for the Greek General’s horse with a choice of two variations, black or white. Gloss maps and sprites are included.

Here's a quote from The J. Paul Getty Trust:
"Each pair of these two matched sets of bronze horse armor consists of a prosternidion, or breastplate, and a prometopidion, armor that protected a horse's forehead. Horse armor was widely used in the ancient Mediterranean world. Its use is well documented in the Near East and Cyprus, but less well understood in ancient Greece. The Greek colonies in southern Italy and Sicily produced all the examples of Greek horse armor still known today. Although no horse armor from mainland Greece has survived, writings by the Greek historian Xenophon verify its existence."

I think the black one looks better of the two.

But they both look great, so I shouldn't be too picky.

Funny enough, I'm reading about native Greek horses now.

They had both native ponies and horses, most common in Thessaly. The ]Skyros pony (the only common native Greek horse now), for example, is commonly grey or brown, while the Pindos pony can be black. There is also the Peneia pony, native to the Pelopponese and is usually coloured brown (though it can also be grey or white).

The most commonly used breed was the Thessalian Horse, which is almost extinct today. I'm not sure precisely of what colours exist in it's variation, but I assume that grey, white, black and brown are all possibilities. I believe that Bucephalus (Alexander's famous steed) was black, and also that he was of the Thessalian type. So assuming that the general is riding a Thessalian horse, then there isn't a problem with it being black.

So black would be the most historically accruate? I know both, but black is more?

It depends on what breed of horse you think the General owns, but I'd probably say darker, say a black or chestnut brown, would be the best bet. I'm not sure if any Greek horse actually goes up to a totally pure white, but there are definitely a lot of greys.

The grey-white horse (6th picture down, on the right) is indeed a Thessalian!
