    Default Renaissance Italy Poll!

If an RPG set in the Italian rinascimento were to arise, what "faction" would YOU like to see chosen?

Note: If you don't care, don't post, don't vote. I don't want to see this:
I would rather see a Renaissance Spain RPG #BFsucks
This poll is not just numerical.
For example, if one choice had more votes, but another choice had almost as many, but more notable support among RPG veterans, then that second choice is the winner.

    Yours truly,
    BF and Associates

Venice would be nice, though I would personally perfer to play as the Emperor or King of France.

Actually, having people personally play as the leaders of different families in charge of different cites as dynasties. Like You have one character play as the de Medici's, another as the Szforza's, perhaps a few as condottieri, another as the Emperor, cardinals, then major banking families, and finally have the Pope be NPC.

Think about it, if we can do game of thrones, I think we could do renaissance Italy, except its gonna be a bit bigger and better and a tad bit more complicated

    2) That would be an alliance game and that doesn't belong here.

Not exactly, rather Im thinking people control familes instead of factions or territories, maybe have people be either nobles, priests, or bankers. All the major cities and factions are controlled by NPCs, though perhaps we can have the different career paths put into the smaller scale game.

Like have nobles have combat advantages and political connections, bankers/merchants monetary benefits and well y'all know the advantages from other RPGs.

And also can we have economics and trade make a bigger factor in this. Like have trade missions, both between city states and to far away places like Constaniople and England and Egypt, then have like businesses like cloth merchants and wine making and after that have banks.

Im thinking banks take ALOT of money to start up, but once you have it, you get a nice 5%-10% yield every turn, and you can loan money to other players and make even more cash

So yeah, question, can I be on the development council for this game, I think y'all dropped the ball oversimplifying the rules for the GSTK restart and I would like to make sure this time the game is made interesting

I put up what seems to be the more prominent factions in both popularity and actual signification. While Savoy may have been important in the scheme of things at certain times, I feel it's a bit inconsequential when compared to common favorites such as Florence and Venice.

    1) Players will play individuals or families within the chosen faction.
ie, players would be the important characters within the Republics (or the fief holders in Milan).

Rome gives us an interesting feature that makes the clergy very important and makes Cardinal characters and/or connections a must.
(Ponti will be our first Pope, no discussion).

    2) Who are you calling "y'all"?

Ace, you are aware that neither Ponti, myself nor BF were a part of the development for the GSTK restart. You are saying this to the wrong group of mods. So you can't say we dropped the ball on something we never did.

We should wait and see if Ponti wants Borgias though. If we get Rome and since he will be Pope, we should see if he wants the Borgias (depending on what time we start, we considered around the First Italian War when the Borgias were in power) or wants to make his own dynasty.

And gonna throw my claim up on the Medicis!

Although the Papal State would be interesting, when I think the Renaissance, I think of Florence and the Medici Family.

And that seems unfair, why should Ponti be Pope from the beginning if the Papal State wins?

I was going to write something that would start a flame war here that wouldn't end well for me. I see what you mean, Pontifex is a skilled RPG gamer and would be the better choice to hold the position of pope from the beginning and then let other players take the seat when they're more experienced.

If a miracle happens and Florence is not the winner of this poll.

    I'm curious Gan.
    Could you elaborate?
The Sforzas and Viscontis have always been my favorites, but Milan is a duchy.
Florence and Venice are republics and Rome is the city of St Peter's Chair; What does Milan have over the variation in those settings?

My vote is cast for Milano. Mainly because of the RP that could be done externally with them, on account for them largely being surrounded by other powers. But, in the interests of helping my good friend BF out as fully as possible I shall rank them in the following order:
    1.) Milano
    2.) Firenze
    3.) Genova
    4.) Venezia
    5.) Roma
    6.) Napoli

I would happily support this RPG fully whatever the outcome. I just feel that Milan and Florence offer the most varied RP followed closely by Genoa. Venice might be nice but I'm unconvinced.
