Default Crashes Post Battle Loading Screeen

    Hey guys,

After being sick and tired of Shogun 2, I decided to go back to Rome and try RS II for the first time. Everything was fine until after my first battle, where I clicked continue after the battle was finished, the loading screen would pop up, fill to 100% and then CTD. I've tried re-installing and a new campaign but none of this seems to work. Anyone have any options on what I could check/try?
Any help would be much appreciated.

My Specs are: Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
    ATI 6950 HD
    Quadcore Q6600 2.40Ghz
    4 Gigs of Ram

I'm also experiencing crashing at the beginning of battles.

    - What OS do you use?

    Windows 8 64 bit

    - What version of RTW do you use?

    1.5 (w/ BI)

    - Are you using steam or not?

    Yes

    - Install path

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold

    - Which launcher option have you used (exe, faction etc)

RomeTW-BI.exe , Belgae, with special bloom, high res vegetation and models.

If you are reporting a game CTD please provide the additional details

    - system specifications, CPU, graphics card

    AMD 8120 Eight-Core
    GTX 680 2GB
    16GB Ram

    - graphic options selected (way too many options)

    Highest on everything

    - ideally a compressed save game immediately prior to the CTD so we can attempt to debug
