    Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Basically, I am making a Total Conversion mod for Medieval II: Total War, and I'm unsure of some things. If you guys could help me I would really appreciate it.

    First of,Ancient Space (project's name) is a total conversion of the game. It will be a huge adventure, setting the player in an unfamiliar, fresh and modern (Sci-Fi) world. You will control multiple characters that have different personalities, which you can alter in many ways. The story is non-linear, meaning that there will be multiple endings that are affected by your actions (at least what I'm planning, not sure if I can achieve this with M2:TW). I am aiming for a rich and deep story-line filled with interesting and believable characters. The story will also be full of twists and turns.

    Now, before we go any further, is this at all possible to achieve with Medieval 2? The reason I choose Medieval 2 is because of its grand strategy and huge battles. And while I can present the story with text, cutscenes and videos of all sorts, should I even bother?

    The mod will depict numerous factions vying for control of the planet. Major powers control Great Houses which supply those powers with resources and manpower.


    There are multiple themes the story will revolve around, such as Augmentations, which improve the body, but make you less human, and if you don't have the money to maintain them, you will experience heavy pain and eventually die; Corporations, which have more power than the government; and conspiracies forged by the corporations. And, one, if not the most important theme the story will revolve around, is dark thematic. This is not a happy story where a young blonde prince saves the day. This is deep stuff, and sometimes you will wonder who is on whose side. Back-stabbing and treachery are common elements in the story, and don't expect your favorite character to survive. There will be multiple main characters, all with different personalities that you will be able to alter in many ways, while also preserving their core personalities.


    One of the things I won't do is the classic "Good vs Evil". In this world, there is no good and evil, only methods and actions that define a person. A man can save the world by killing millions, is he necessarily evil? Also, this is not one of those typical "save the world" stories. You fight to save your family (as one of the characters), other characters want very different things, but none of them are heroes. In this world, there are no heroes.

    The story involves a futuristic world where factions are vying for the control of a planet called "Pragia". There is the UCS (United Colonial States), who worship democracy.
    Then there is The Union, which is controlled by a bunch of corporations all vying for the control of the planet. Corporations control the war. They hire Private Military Companies to fight for them.
    It's not about politics, religion or hatred, it is about money and power. War has become a business. The best business so far. All corporations get their share, and it is impossible to trace them down should they lose the war.
    The Union is not a union of people, but of corporations. There are other factions, as well.

    I have been working on a similar mod, although mine involves ancient/medieval weaponry. Feel free to pm me if you want any help with this. I also have links on my thread to several sources for alien 3d models (assuming there will be non-human factions on this planet.)

    This map looks great buy maybe the two small island at the bottom left could be move left a bit more with a larger island as well just my two cents feel free to say get ****ed

    For what my opinion is worth. The landmasses and island all look as if they're made to fit the maximum dimensions (1021x1021). It's as if they're all meant to fit perfectly inside a square. I like the shape of the small islands, just not their position in relation to one another (again looks like they're arranged to fit a square). And the big island is kind of boring. It again resembles one big blob in the shape of a square if you look at it from a distance. IMO it has a lot more potential.

    On a different note, the title is a bit misleading. I had hoped that this mod would actually take place in space (I know someone was working on a similar mod or at least experimenting with it).

    Thanks for the suggestions, but, like I said, it's still a work in progress.
    The reason for the name of the game will be explained in the game.

    Also maybe have the landmass below New Saar (nice name BTW) have a narrow sea or a lake inbetween also is there only 5 fractions

    More info:

    STORY

    - The game will feature a deep, complex, mature and non-linear story.
    - The story will mostly be focused on the main characters and their relationships, but also on themes such as slavery, augmentations, human nature, treachery etc.

    SETTING

    - The mod sets place in Pragia, a planet millions of light years away from Earth.

    THEMES

    - There are multiple themes the story will revolve around, such as Augmentations, which improve the body, but make you less human, and if you don't have the money to maintain them, you will experience heavy pain and eventually die; Corporations, which have more power than the government; and conspiracies forged by the corporations.

    - I am currently toying around with different and entirely new game-play elements. Some characters may have augmentations and they might be drug addicts, as well. Traits like these will give bonuses and penalties at the same time. Upgrading yourself with augmentations will have both positive (increased morale, attack, defense etc.) and negative effects (death more likely if augmentations are not maintained, decreased loyalty, health, speed etc.).

    - Taking drugs is legal, and is even encouraged by the government. A lot of drugs maintain a person’s augmentations and/or improve those augmentations.

    - Many augmentations are illegal, but they can be bought and installed on the black market.

    - Augmentations need to be maintained. In order to do this, people must take drugs. Some bodies accept augmentations easier, and don’t require taking as much drugs as a body which declines augmentations.

    - Augmentations are sorted into three tiers. The first tier is the standard tier which doesn't improve any parts of the body. These include augmented reality wearable computer systems, armor, clothing and weapon enhancements etc. The second tier improves many parts of the body, including eye and ear enhancements, arm and leg enhancements, torso enhancements and others. In order to maintain these enhancements, a person must take drugs to do so. The final third tier is illegal to civilians, and is only used in the military. These range from simple third tier augmentations such as wrist blades, to more complex such as mini-gun attachments on the armor.

    - Slavery is legal in The Union and in Soros. Slavers have no rights and can be executed without excuse. Slave owners are highly respected in The Union, but loathed in other anti slavery factions. Slaves can be traded in diplomacy aspect of the game.
