    Default LAN desync issues

    Hey,

I am having issues in LAN games. We use Hamachi to create a LAN network across our router. We are playing with low graphical settings and firewalls down to rule those factors out.

And yet every game we seem to desync from each other and end up playing our own games separately. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes to desync, sometimes it is instant, straight out of the loading screen, but it always happens and it is always a different person that the game says is desyncing.

It really ruins the fun, anyone know of any way at all to fix this?? Much appreciated.

Oh, we have 3.2 and use the MOS submod.

MOS submod has lot of scripts, I think it is not made to play over LAN.

So there is no work-around? Not even if we make drastic concessions? Because we are willing to try anything. We have a big LAN coming up and everyone is keen as to play this! >

Yet another desync, as soon as the lines collided. >

Seriously, is there ANY way to deal with this, even if it is not a fix? We just want at least one synced custom battle!

Would it be possible to start a clean TATW 3.2 install and put the MOS EDU and such in to include all the units and stats, without the scripts that cause desync...? o.O

that would be theoretically possible as long as you have the battle models , textures etc

Have you simply tried it with vanilla TATW, without MOS? I have played a few LAN custom battles (they're lots of fun! ) and it worked fine the few times I've done it.

Yes, it works with vanilla. That's why I am going to attempt to LAN vanilla 3.2 with the MOS textures and such. We really want the textures and extra units, so if we can get them in without whatever is causing the desync (perhaps scripts?) that'd be perfection.

i suspect it is the scripts .. what i think is happening is the scripts add dramatically to the processes required (hence extended turn times) and this "weight" of work is just to much for your computers to transmit to multiple other computers at once

Yeah, but I have a nagging doubt about that...because how many scripts could there possibly be in a custom game?

I believe there are some scripts in the campaign_script file that affects battles, but the vast majority only fire when in campaign mode, so I have a feeling the scripts aren't the problem.

We're talking about all three. lol

I believe he wants to play custom battles via a Local Area Network (LAN) while using MOS, since MOS adds quite a few different units.

    This.

We are doing 4 player LAN custom battles with the MOS submod. We are hoping that making a clean 3.2 Third Age install with only the aesthetic stuff, textures, animations, sprites, etc, and the new units from MOS added in. I was hoping that would rule out whatever is causing the desync, but I am beginning to doubt that it is scripts as the scripts, I assumed, only affect the campaign.

Apologies for the necropost, but I came across this using the search (Better than starting a new thread).

We are having desync issues in large siege battles using MOS 1.6. on the custom cultures.

The game works, but there are strange occurrences such as when in my game his archers are still alive whereas in his game I have killed them all.

You won`t get much of a help here regarding MOS multiplaying, cause MOS does not support multiplaying.

Either try asking in MOS thread, or, try in Multiplayer forum here.

    Good luck!
